Set down your phone and step into the world! Join local artist Phillip Ochs for three evenings of drawing and community at PS1. When: Mondays Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 & 12, 6-8pm Where: PS1 Close Main Hall (538 S. Gilbert) Each session of Visual Problem Solving with Intentional Compositions will instigate creation using fun, but mildly challenging exercises. Various drawing restraints will be performed throughout and you'll take home artifacts that reflect new methods of rendering, subliminal devices, and picturesque compositions. Phillip believes creativity enriches individuals and communities alike. He holds a B.A. in studio arts from the University of Iowa, received the Founders Award at the 2014 Rock Island Art Guild, and has had works displayed at the Figge Art Museum in 2018 and 2024. Open to ages 14+. Basic drawing materials and tools will be provided.

Announcing a new way to connect, create, and repair at Public Space One! Inter-Repair is a community mending circle, hosted by Cicelia Ross-Gotta and Emma Harkins, every 4th Saturday at PS1 Close House! Bring something that is broken - anything from a toaster to torn jeans, an unfinished poem or some curb-find in need of fresh paint - and mindfully repair it in a community setting. We are encouraging a buy-nothing approach, sharing of skills, supplies, and tools so that these fixes are FREE for all.
