One of London’s best local restaurant. We could’ve told you that months ago but we didn’t want it to get too busy. 🤫 Ida in Queen’s Park is the kind of place that feels like being adopted by a very good Italian family for an evening — hand-rolled pasta, the cosiest corner shop you’ve ever sat in, and the sort of meal that makes you go quiet for a bit.

This one hits close to home not only because it’s literally down the street from us but because it made me feel like I was home with my grandparents in their restaurant.

Down by a quiet, otherwise forgotten street, in Queens Park lies a Victorian, sage coloured restaurant. Decorated with half cut lined-curtains, and windows holding Italian liquors and beers.

Reminiscent of my grandparents old restaurant Pacino’s, before we moved to our new location. @idarestaurant feels like how old school Italy would have been. Step inside to darkness with the only exception of light bouncing from the tabletop candles situated on the steamed pressed, white tablecloths, & fresh flowers to match. It’s cosy, and super romantic with its walls consumed by eclectic vintage posters, hanging paintings of various renaissance works, & fiat 500 drawings to name a few.

Husband, Avi, an IT engineer & wife, Wenkert, a writer, named Ida after Avi’s Italian grandmother. Where both having no experience of owning a restaurant began cooking dishes inspired by her. Still today they pride themselves on cookings things rustic, not otherwise mirroring the latest pasta craze. All their pasta is made fresh everyday and rolled by hand.

The menu reads like a countryside restaurant, in Umbria, Italy. Think bresaola, shaved Grana Padano & rocket for starters, pappardelle Ragu for Primi and a cut of meat and potatoes for mains. Of course dessert comes easy with either tiramisu & affogato.

You could taste the love and effort that went into creating every bite, sauces tasted like hours of simmering, and pasta chewy almost al dente nods to how fresh it is. Truly authentic and gorgeous experience and we can’t believe we get to have this as our local. by @idarestaurant

“Le Tre Grazie.” We are lucky enough to have three fantastic women making our Pasta at Ida. Usually they work alone, but this morning they decided to meet up and compare notes in an attempt to standardise our tagliatelle and pappardelle by @idarestaurant

Perfect local review. In a sleepy spot in Kensal (or, as the estate agents might say, Lower Queen’s Park), lives the most perfect and romantic little local trattoria, @idarestaurant. You’ll half recognise it from Insurance adverts and passing it when stuck in the avenue grids of Kensal Rise. It is pretty damn perfect and lacks any pretence. It’s run mainly by women, which means that the service is effortless and charming. It feels like a family restaurant because it is. The food is as good as you want it to be, Negronis are served in Pyrex, and I would recommend avoiding the house wine. It’s not terrible, but the food is such good value and they could have sold your table three times over, so It seems a shame not to spend a little more when you're there. “I’m now on page 299, the chapter on Ida. Not going to finish, but will instead book a table for one at Ida and read the last 12 pages while eating a bowl of freshly made pasta. It feels like the best way to round off the immersive pleasure of your book. “ by @idarestaurant
