Our own house, Building Frame of the House, celebrated its third anniversary this April since completion.

We’ve been incredibly fortunate that the project has been featured in many media outlets, becoming an opportunity for many people to discover my work. Even now, three years later, I still receive messages from people who would like to visit the house, which I’m truly grateful for.

My wife and I continue to enjoy living in this house every day, and we still feel it is the perfect home for us.

Designing a house is not only about creating a building—it is about designing a way of life that reflects who you are. I hope this project can help convey the joy of making a home and the richness of the life that unfolds within it.

The photos were taken by our longtime collaborator, @ookijingu, who returned to photograph the house again two years after its completion.

自邸・家の躯体、この４月で竣工して3周年を迎えました！ありがたいことに、たくさんのメディアで取り上げていただき、たくさんの人に僕のことを知っていただくきっかけになりました！３年経った今でも見学したいと連絡いただくこともあり、ありがたい限り。僕たち夫婦は変わらず最高のこの家で楽しく暮らしています！
家づくりは「家」をつくるだけでなく、自分たちらしい暮らし方をデザインすることです。こんな楽しい家づくりと、そこで暮らす豊かさが、この家を通してたくさんの人に伝わるといいなと思います。

Our second spring intern is a student I used to teach as a part-time lecturer. She is still a beginner, but ever since I taught her, I could see her potential and motivation, and she made the decision to come and learn with us. She is enjoying everything and absorbing as much as she can, so I’m really looking forward to her future.

春のインターン2人目は非常勤で教えていた学生さん！まだ初学者ですが、教えていた時からポテンシャルと意欲のある子で、意を決して学びに来てくれています。楽しそうに何でも吸収していくので、将来が楽しみです！

I regularly maintain my house—building shelves, repainting doors, pruning plants, and getting rid of things I no longer need.

Just like taking care of your own body, I think it’s important to live with a house attentively, observing its condition and making adjustments when needed.

By looking, thinking, and making small changes over time, the house gradually becomes better, and you naturally develop a deeper attachment to it.

What matters is to do what you can, little by little.

定期的に家のメンテナンスをしています。棚をつくって、扉を塗って、植物を剪定して、荷物を断捨離。自分の体と同じで様子を見ながら手を加えて、付き合っていくのが大事。様子を見て、考えて、手を加えていく事で、家が良くなっていくし、愛着も湧きます。大切なのは少しづつ、できることを、です。

I attended the talk event and open house for Monochrome AKIYA-C, designed by Kiyoaki Takeda.

It was an inspiring and meaningful experience, featuring the remarkable initiative led by Mr. Umeda and the architecture that brings his vision to life.

I had also heard about Monochrome’s solar panels, and seeing the product in person, I was impressed by their quality and design.

A truly wonderful collaboration between architect and client.

武田清明設計のMonochrome AKIYA-Cのトークイベント＋内覧会。代表梅田さんの素晴らしい取り組みと、それを具現化した建築。とても刺激的で有意義な時間でした。Monochromeの太陽パネルも噂には聞いていたけれどとても良い製品。建築家とクライアントの素晴らしいコラボレーションでした。

JIA関東甲信越支部住宅部会主催の「建築家による家づくりトーク」に登壇します！いつもと異なり、家づくりの裏側（完成した建築の紹介ではなく、設計の段階の試行錯誤やプロセス）についてお話しします。僕が尊敬する風景研究所の大島さんと対バンです！

House of Emptiness has been published on ArchDaily!

Rather than making architecture stand out through complexity, the project seeks to draw out the strength of space itself through a simple composition and generous emptiness.

It is an architecture with an autonomous order that is not reduced to living or specific uses.

ArchDailyに空の家が掲載されました！複雑化して建築を際立てせるのではなく、シンプルな構成と大きな余白で、空間そのものの強度を引き出そうとしています。生活や用途に回収されない自律した秩序を持つ建築です。

At the Architecture Gakuen Festival “Rookie Competition” currently being held in Shinjuku, one of the interns who joined our office is part of the organizing team, while two other former interns were selected and are exhibiting their work side by side.

Another student who applied for an internship with us but couldn’t make the timing work was also selected for the exhibition.

Seeing all of this together made me unexpectedly happy.

新宿で開催されている建築学縁祭・Rookie戦に。インターンに来てくれた子が運営にいて、インターンに来てくれた子が2人隣同士で入選・展示。応募してくれたけどタイミングが合わずだった子も入選していて、なんだか嬉しくなりました。

Tucked away in a quiet Tokyo neighborhood, “Building Frame of the House” is a striking 59sqm (635sqft) concrete home designed by @igaarchitects of IGArchitects for himself and his wife — doubling as his personal studio. Stacked across seven skip floors, the compact structure uses split levels, expansive windows, and open sightlines to create a sense of spaciousness and flow.

Each level has a distinct function: a cozy office filled with books and greenery on the ground floor, a sleek 3.3-meter stainless steel kitchen nestled between floors, and a flexible living-dining area that opens into a lush, west-facing bedroom. Clever design details — like a soaring 6-meter bookshelf and stairs that double as seating, storage, and shelving — add to the home’s thoughtful efficiency.

“Overlap no MA,” a house I designed in Okinawa, has been featured on designboom!

I designed a frame that connects everyday life with its surrounding environment, intending for the frame to gradually become integrated into both life and the landscape over time.

It has already been six months since completion. I’m looking forward to visiting again and seeing how the house has begun to settle into its environment.

沖縄に設計した、「重なりの間」が、designboomに掲載されました！
生活と環境を繋ぐフレームを設計して、経年と共にフレームが生活や環境に取り込まれていくことを意図しています。竣工してはや半年、次に伺うが楽しみです。

Our project House of Wall Forest has been featured on designboom!

Although it is a timber house, we designed it with the aim of creating a powerful spatial composition reminiscent of reinforced concrete architecture.

It is the latest project in our “Groups” series, following Forest of pillars and Overlap no Ma.

設計した壁群の家が、designboomに掲載されました！木造の計画ですが、RCのような力強い空間構成を目指して設計しました。これまでに設計した柱群の家、重なりの間に続く、群シリーズの最新プロジェクトです。
