Facilitation isn’t just running a meeting. It’s about building the conditions where people can speak frankly across differences in power, rank and culture, even when the topic is polarizing.

This October I’m teaching Effective Group Facilitation through SFU Continuing Studies. Over three days we’ll dig into the roots of facilitation and its different styles and values, and practise working with power and equity in the room. You’ll leave with a design framework you can use, tested through exercises, simulations and case studies.

Sneak peak of a beautiful session with my dear friend, @igobykhari. We had two opportunities to make photos a couple of weeks ago in Vancouver. Can’t wait to share more. Thank you for taking some photo adventures with me, Khari. So grateful for you!
I had a hard time choosing between these 2 photos. i like the composition of the grass on the first one, and the focus on khari’s eye in the second.

For Vancouver Friends, I had a great time working in the city….If you are thinking about a session with me, happy to be lured back to the city.

Meet Khari Wendell McClelland—an award-winning musician, a Detroit-born storyteller, and a master of the "transformative circle." Khari’s work bridges the gap between art and activism, using music and experiential learning to help communities dismantle barriers and find common ground.

Whether he is recreating the songs of fugitive slaves in his Freedom Singer project or facilitating high-stakes dialogue for leaders, Khari’s approach is always warm, bold, and deeply emotive. He believes that creativity is the most powerful tool we have for collective liberation.

Check out his program at Hollyhock this May 25-27. 2026
