Who else’s playlists are organized or complied by mood? Let’s make a playlist together!
•
Music is a wonderful way to connect with emotion. It’s a beautiful source of healing and joy; used in both times of grief and celebration.
•
With so many emotions close to, or at, the surface I wanted to invite you to create a playlist with me. Something to inspire hope, peace of mind and comfort.
•
Add a song, or two, or more below that’s helping you in this time, or DM them to me.
Tag a friend or two to join us.
I’ll create a heart talks playlist, and some mood playlists and share them with you soon. 💛
Xoxo

Hope in Hard Times – A Playlist.⁣
⁣
Since this pandemic began,⁣
I asked each person whom I formulated medicine for if they had a special song that brought them hope or happiness.⁣
I played this song while dispensing their medicine, as a way to connect us and infuse their medicine with song.⁣
I made the songs into a playlist in the order that they rolled in.⁣
I added songs that make me feel happiness or hope, as they came to mind as well.⁣
It was complete surrender and letting go of control, not knowing what song someone would pick or how it would flow with the song before it. I asked a couple of people whom I love and adore what songs they would choose.⁣
The fourth to last song was my mum’s choice. The third to last song was my dad’s choice.⁣
⁣
When I was a kid, my dad had a white Chevy van named “Long May She Run.” He painted her name in black paint along her side. One day, when my late sister Stephanie was mad at Papa, she punched a huge dent in the side of his van (she was tough like eagle talons).⁣
Long after that van stopped running, my dad had a hard time parting with her metal bones.⁣
⁣
“Yepp, ‘Long May She Run,’ because it reminds me of when I had my van and memories with the family.”⁣
⁣
Anyways, these songs have made my heart feel all kinds of connected, and I hope you share this connectedness too.⁣
This playlist is a beautiful example of what can happen when we relinquish control and all join together in humanity.⁣
⁣
My mum called back four times with song recommendations,⁣
“Planting a seed is an act of optimism, so there’s that – that’s hope.” She said.⁣
⁣
This playlist is available via link in bio on both Apple Music and Spotify.⁣
♥️♥️♥️⁣
May it bring you Hope in Hard Times.⁣

Settling in after a weekend of inspired conversations, animated histories, and communities coming together.
.
Legends have been building rivers in our community for years, giving space for rhythm and story to flow. Along the water, we have found new ideas of home, and remembered old ways of being together in the world that still make sense today.
.
Here’s hoping the reverberation of our coming together this weekend allows us to continue to see each other, be with each other, and stand together to see the world through compassionate and curious eyes.
.
Thank you to the artists, the performers, the @buxtonsnextgen the @buxton_museum and the patrons for populating and illuminating our spaces, and to our friend Cara Eastcott for carving out space for all of us to flow, and weave.

I cannot put into words how emotional the stories @igobykhari told last night through music and words was. Sometimes it's hard for me to imagine the time when our brothers and sisters of colour were shackled in slavery but that doesn't mean it wasn't real and that it is forgotten. It doesn't mean that the ripples from that pain doesn't still touch the lives of those around us. Together we can heal, through learning, through music, through conversation, through love and through community. Thank you for sharing the stories of your family and their journey Khari. Thank you for teaching us all how to love a little harder.
Who's coming to Coffee and Conversations with @caraeastcott this morning at @thamesartgallery ?! 10am-1:30pm.
