The Flowers of My Childhood, A body of work about growing up, growing into myself, and finding my way through photography.

Orchids were scattered around our home when I was younger.

They were always there.

Quietly growing in the garden, sitting on balconies, tucked into corners. I never really understood why they caught my attention. I just remember thinking they were beautiful.

They never seemed to rush.

They would bloom, disappear, and bloom again.

As a child, I didn’t think much about it.
I only knew that I liked looking at them.

Now, I think about them differently.

Growing up has taught me that not everything happens when you want it to.

Sometimes, you grow quietly.
Sometimes, you don’t notice it until you look back.

I think photography has been the same for me.

I’m still figuring things out.
Still learning.
Still becoming.

And maybe that’s enough.

I was mad at the universe for taking a soul so beautiful, smart, and loving away from us. I couldn’t understand how out of all of the people that the universe could take it had to be you, but i realized that maybe your beautiful soul had served its purpose on this confusing earth, sadly leaving us without warning.

You were family, a bestfriend, my fairygod mother and so much more. We will all yearn for one more conversation, one more drink, one more cookout, and to more travels with you. From the loudest cheers, to the long haul drives, a seat will be empty to keep your presence with us. I cant express into words how much you will be missed Yann. I hope you are resting well and at peace, We all love you so much. To seeing you soon someday at those pearly white gates🤍🌴 by @ilaadawn
