While digging through drawers full of old junk one day at my dad’s house, I found some cassette tapes filled with silly home recordings.

One tape in particular contained recordings of my sister Joni and I as young children; reading nursery rhymes, telling jokes, inventing bizarre radio stations and other ridiculous shows, plus a wide variety of other incredibly random sound bytes and noises. In other words, I had stumbled upon a sample goldmine!

“1985 EP” is a collection of strange, brooding, electronic rhythms that were inspired by the quirky, nostalgic sounds I sampled from that childhood cassette tape.

Enjoy!

Mars Wind - She Is A Subwoofer

“Mars Wind are 2 hard techno kids from the streets, and the lovely Marta who sings from her cold heart into the fast night. Rip it up to this!”

Mars Wind is a project that was created in the haze of an extended drinking binge… yay, vodka!

We decided to deliberately limit ourselves to the SID chip for all of our melodic and percussive needs (or at least an emulation of one, courtesy of QuadraSID VSTi by reFX), abandoning the traditional approach of using more advanced synthesisers which would have us wasting far too much time browsing endless presets.

Working within these constraints actually created a great sense of freedom and forced us to be more creative. Our intention was to create short, fun tracks with a high replayability factor.

Released January 17, 2005

Credits: Me @illformed, S. Mason @vesabios, Dean Williams (R.I.P. You are sorely missed, brother.) @roljui

Re-released on BandCamp now with a few juicy bonus sounds.

RIP IT UP TO THIS!

Hi everyone, Joni here,
A final post from me because I wanted to share this Memorial that was so Beautifully written by some of Kieran's closest friends for his glitch2 website. Between us we have now made glitch2 free to all, in memory of my Brother. I'm sorry to those who may have purchased glitch very recently, but due to circumstances it has taken a while to update it to a free download. I hope you all understand.
As we head into this weekend, I want to inform you that Kieran's cremation will take place on Sunday 2nd. Please hold him in your thoughts, cry, laugh, celebrate his life any way you see fit. His legacy lives on through you.
I appreciate each and every one of you for all of your kind words, stories and memories of Kieran. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart ❤️.I will cherish them all!
To my Brother, I love you, I miss you, I hope you and Pops will be waiting for me when my time comes.
Sleep well Kieran 🩵

Kieran Foster aka @illformed passed away this month and I wanted to share a few thoughts in his memory.
I knew Kieran since the beginning of the 2000s. We connected online through the tracker scene and our love for the music surrounding it. He was extraordinarily talented in everything he did, which was something I admired deeply. I can wholeheartedly say that his MarsWind album (She is a Subwoofer) is one of my all time favorites and I know it by heart.
We also did a few tunes together, which is something I will cherish forever.

Besides music, Kieran was one of the most imaginative people I knew.
I still remember pre-alpha-testing the very first version of Glitch; when it was just the separate effects and you had to run it from the command line. It blew us all away and we knew he was on to something big. And the rest is history.
His impact on the music scene will be forever remembered and his legacy live on.

Kieran had a strong aura and a big heart, and I will miss him dearly. Skiing/snowboarding by @illformed

To all who knew my Brother Kieran aka "dblue" aka "illformed".
I am using his platform to post this so i know it reaches the people that matter.
My Brother's passing has come as a huge shock to all. I for one am absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of people around the world who are sharing their stories and memories of how they came to know Kieran. He was a master of many things and as genuine and authentic as a person can be! He was creative and curious. He had a love for art, music and ALL things nerdy and silly. He created a life for himself that I hope he was extremely proud of. Glitch was his life! He was also very humble! I hope my post reaches those who knew him personally. You all probably know he was a no frills, no fuss kinda guy and with that said, he did not wish to have a formal funeral or service of any kind. So I ask you all kindly to please celebrate his life in whatever way you wish, and please feel free to reach out to me personally if you want to share any memories 😊. He will live on through your music 🎶. Thank you all for being a part of his journey!
Love you Brother 💙🩵 What a life! What a legacy! by @illformed
