Kieran Foster aka @illformed passed away this month and I wanted to share a few thoughts in his memory.
I knew Kieran since the beginning of the 2000s. We connected online through the tracker scene and our love for the music surrounding it. He was extraordinarily talented in everything he did, which was something I admired deeply. I can wholeheartedly say that his MarsWind album (She is a Subwoofer) is one of my all time favorites and I know it by heart.
We also did a few tunes together, which is something I will cherish forever.

Besides music, Kieran was one of the most imaginative people I knew.
I still remember pre-alpha-testing the very first version of Glitch; when it was just the separate effects and you had to run it from the command line. It blew us all away and we knew he was on to something big. And the rest is history.
His impact on the music scene will be forever remembered and his legacy live on.

Kieran had a strong aura and a big heart, and I will miss him dearly. Skiing/snowboarding

To all who knew my Brother Kieran aka "dblue" aka "illformed".
I am using his platform to post this so i know it reaches the people that matter.
My Brother's passing has come as a huge shock to all. I for one am absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of people around the world who are sharing their stories and memories of how they came to know Kieran. He was a master of many things and as genuine and authentic as a person can be! He was creative and curious. He had a love for art, music and ALL things nerdy and silly. He created a life for himself that I hope he was extremely proud of. Glitch was his life! He was also very humble! I hope my post reaches those who knew him personally. You all probably know he was a no frills, no fuss kinda guy and with that said, he did not wish to have a formal funeral or service of any kind. So I ask you all kindly to please celebrate his life in whatever way you wish, and please feel free to reach out to me personally if you want to share any memories 😊. He will live on through your music 🎶. Thank you all for being a part of his journey!

earth lost an amazing soul ~ Kieran Foster aka dblue has returned to the stars

he created the groundbreaking Glitch vst plugin & his work on @renoise has touched the lives of many.

we met in 2017 and he invited me and the Defunkt crew to Renoise HQ in Berlin to meet taktik, the creator. we had an amazing time completely nerding out and then went for pizza and drinks. he and I shared some laughs when I ordered a pepperoni pizza and the restaurant served me a cheese pizza with pepperoncini peppers instead. he ate my pizza and bought me a salami one.

we kept in touch all these years and I spoke to him just a little a while before he passed. I didn't know he was having health issues because he always radiated pure light and good vibes. my heart is very heavy today.

It's taken me a couple days of wrestling with my own thoughts and I still don't think that I've got the right words to describe the loss of our friend Kieran Foster.

If you were lucky enough to be in the NM rave scene in the late 90s-early 2000s, you knew Kieran, aka dblue aka THE man behind one of our most treasured message boards of all time: DopeDesign International.

You had a Dope Design sticker on your stuff, you rocked a Dope Design hoodie, and you spent countless hours involved in scene banter and listening to mixes on the website he created for us ravers during his time here in New Mexico.

Oh and the scene drama .. 😈 you think things get messy now... ooooeeee did we have some raver mud slingin in those forums back then 😆

Kieran was a friend and confidante to so many of us as we stumbled through life at that time. Supportive beyond words. The creation of DopeDesign Intl would be the foundation that built so many of our friendships within the NM rave scene.. Friendships that many of us still hold today.

I don't think he ever realized how much he meant to all of us. How much we loved, cherished and appreciated how he brought us all together. I'm not sure we ever told him that either, which seems to happen to often.

I hope you find your peace Kieran. I'm sorry that you never were able to make it back to the US. We love you, and we'll never forget the memories you helped us build.
