Josh, 2026 🌪️
Proof of life, shot on film and digital

Josh reached out to me to work on a shoot that he’s been mentally and emotionally putting together after he connected the dots in his life.
The highs the lows. The mask on and off. The black and white.

So we shot around 20th and Mission, where life gave him another chance. Somewhere between our conversations about his diagnosis, Josh looks at me and says “all a fish knows is water”.

Just remember what happens on earth stays on earth.
Thank you so much @illustrious.j for trusting me with your story and the opportunity to capture this
moment.

May is International Mental Health Awareness month. Please check in on your loved ones.

31 years living it. 12 months understanding it. I’m not a diagnosis, I’m much more than the battles I fight.

BROWN BRILLIANCE. SEPTEMBER 8TH 🤎⬇️

Brown because it’s in our skin.
Brown because it’s in our blocks.
Brown because it’s in the language, the food, the murals, the tienditas, the street vendors, the stories that raised us.

Brilliance because we’ve always been more than what’s been said about us.

This one is for our gente who make something out of nothing. Who create the culture, survive, build, organize, feed eachother, hold down neighborhoods and find a way to make it beautiful.

Our first drop. Nested in the mission, Rooted in the people.

BROWN BRILLIANCE — 09.08.26

We die 12 to 13 years before you do.

We’re 2% of the population yet 30% of the Prision population

The World Health Organization identifies it as the 6th leading cause of disability worldwide

Yet, I couldn’t be happier

These photos poetically personify the many masks I’ve had to carry and reflexively wear to hide something I didn’t know I was hiding

I’m only 5 months into naming it, but a life time of living it.

Were not always strong out of virtue, but out of necessity.

:(: Happy World Bipolar Day :):

A huge thank you to @eucalyptusradio , thank you for taking this project on and being such a good friend throughout. Can’t wait to see the rest 🤎 taken in Mission District, San Francisco, CA by @illustrious.j

To my long time friend, like I always say, I’m not surprised but very proud. You’re building something powerful and it’s only growing.

The people appreciate you brining us into partnership. To many more 🥂

Much love and success to all those I was privileged to connect with 🌹 taken in The Avery SF by @illustrious.j
