This Pride Week, we celebrate a very special milestone: 8 years of Colores del Alma! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 For eight years, we have been proud to build a community in Calgary that fosters cultural representation, connection, and belonging for LatinxQueer people in our city. With only two official 2SLGBTQ+ groups across Canada (ours being the second), the journey has not always been easy. We have faced challenges, barriers, and tough moments, but through them all, we have learned, grown, and continued to thrive. Over the past eight years, Colores del Alma has organised educational workshops, cultural celebrations, community events, and meaningful collaborations with local organisations. We have also had the privilege of uplifting our incredible artists and community members, many of whom, for years, felt disconnected from the broader 2SLGBTQ+ community in Calgary. Being Latino, Latinx, or a person of colour within the 2SLGBTQ+ community is not always easy. Many barriers and challenges remain. But our community continues to demonstrate the power of representation, resilience, culture, and unity. We are committed to continuing this beautiful journey: building community, celebrating and preserving our roots, creating safe spaces, and most importantly, paving the way for those who come after us. And this is only the beginning! 🎉 Join us this Sunday at the Calgary Pride Parade as we proudly mark our 8th Anniversary! 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ LINK IN BIO ↗️↗️↗️ Follow us and stay connected for all the exciting activities and celebrations we have planned! Thank you to every person, artist, volunteer, community member, partner, and supporter who has been part of our journey. Colores del Alma exists because of YOU. ❤️ #ColoresDelAlma #8YearsStrong #CalgaryPride #YYCPRIDE #coloresyyc taken in Calgary, Alberta by @imaands

On Thursday, June 25, Colores del Alma held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and launched the 2026 Pride float. During our gathering, we gratefully reflected on our work from the past year. We celebrated our achievements and successes, reaffirming our commitment to our Latin LGBTQ+ community.✨️ It was a wonderful moment to acknowledge the challenges faced and to connect warmly with our peers. Our event began with a heartfelt Treaty 7 land acknowledgment, followed by a proud review of 2025, an introduction of our dedicated Board of Directors and passionate Colores volunteers, and an honour for @mariancrisla with our community award for her ongoing support, contributions, and steadfast allyship to the Latinx LGBTQ+ community in Calgary. Additionally, we proudly presented the lead for this year's Colores del Alma Pride float, creatively designed and presented by @nachoskins (Ignacio Navarrete), who shared his inspiring vision and artistry with us. We are now welcoming registered members to march with Colores del Alma at the Calgary Pride Parade 2026 (Link in Bio). A huge thank you to our performers at the @salvadorianfolk_yyc (Calgary Salvadorian Folklore Association) and our beloved queen, @@berrywetlatina (Berry Wet Latina) for amazing performances. Also, to @alcarswell and @twistedelementyyc for hosting us and ensuring we had a memorable time, and a special thank you to @victorsicilia (Victor Miranda) for capturing our joyful moments through incredible photographs. Thank you all for your contributions, ongoing support, and love for our community. We are excited and look forward to another incredible year ahead. Muchas gracias from the entire Colores del Alma team 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨️ #Coloresyyc #Calgarypride #Prideyyc #LGBTQ+ #Latinopride taken in Twisted Element by @imaands

No podemos permitirnos dividirnos. Debemos permanecer unidos. Debemos mantenernos vigilantes. ##felizmesdelorgullo ##orgullolgbt #coloresyyc #prideyyc #latinopride taken in Calgary, Alberta by @imaands

We are excited to partnertup with @calgaryundergroundfilm and proudly inviting you to get your tickets for the screening of JARIPEO on April 26 at the Globe Cinema in Calgary. Tickets are going fast. Secure yours now! All details are in the link in BIO. ↗️ description @jaripeodocu A hybrid documentary that journeys to Michoacán’s hypermasculine rodeos. What starts as a celebration of tradition, descends into the subconscious of memory, queer desire, and longing. Every Christmas in Penjamillo, Michoacán, the annual jaripeo unites locals and returning U.S. migrants in a celebration of cowboy culture, nostalgia, and masculinity, while beneath the spectacle a hidden queer subculture quietly unfolds. Filmmaker Efraín Mojica, who grew up between Penjamillo and Riverside, California, blends personal experience with Super 8 footage, stylized memory, and raw verité to interrogate the machismo at its core. Through encounters with Noé, a macho cowboy living partly in secret, and Joseph, a flamboyant jaripeo superfan and community pillar, the film becomes an intimate journey of self-recognition within a traditionally masculine world. JARIPEO is a reckoning with the wounds and beauty of a home left behind.
