🍓 I AM BERRY WET LA TINA. Your Salvadoran-rooted Latina obsession. Your Central Alberta queen. And a voice that refuses to be silenced. I was born from a gap I couldn't ignore: the lack of representation and visibility for our diverse Latino communities in Central Alberta. For the past three years, I've been working to help create a more welcoming, inclusive space where our differences are celebrated, our cultures are respected, and everyone has the opportunity to feel like they belong. The journey hasn't always been easy. I've been put down. I've been told not to continue. I've faced moments that could have made me question whether I was doing the right thing. But I keep moving forward. Because this has never been just about me. It's about the generations coming after us. It's about creating a world where the next generation doesn't have to feel ashamed of their roots, hide their identity, or be afraid of who they could become. I'm proud of my Salvadoran heritage, my Indigenous ancestry, and the many Latin American cultures that have shaped my journey. After 17 years of life in Alberta, I've learned that our experiences may be different, our traditions may vary, and our opinions may not always align — but that doesn't make any of us less worthy of respect. We don't need everyone to understand us. We don't need everyone's approval to exist proudly. We deserve the freedom to be ourselves, to celebrate where we come from, and to decide who we want to become. A performer. A storyteller. A community builder. A Latina who believes that representation matters and that our presence can open doors for those who come after us. I'm here to celebrate our cultures, challenge expectations, create visibility, and remind you that you matter — exactly as you are. 🍓 Salvadoran roots. Alberta attitude. Latin American soul. Welcome to my world. This is only the beginning. Now tell me: What part of your roots, culture, or identity are you most proud of? ❤️ #LatinaRepresentation #CentralAlberta #LatinxCommunity #QueerVisibility #DragAndCulture

This Pride Week, we celebrate a very special milestone: 8 years of Colores del Alma! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 For eight years, we have been proud to build a community in Calgary that fosters cultural representation, connection, and belonging for LatinxQueer people in our city. With only two official 2SLGBTQ+ groups across Canada (ours being the second), the journey has not always been easy. We have faced challenges, barriers, and tough moments, but through them all, we have learned, grown, and continued to thrive. Over the past eight years, Colores del Alma has organised educational workshops, cultural celebrations, community events, and meaningful collaborations with local organisations. We have also had the privilege of uplifting our incredible artists and community members, many of whom, for years, felt disconnected from the broader 2SLGBTQ+ community in Calgary. Being Latino, Latinx, or a person of colour within the 2SLGBTQ+ community is not always easy. Many barriers and challenges remain. But our community continues to demonstrate the power of representation, resilience, culture, and unity. We are committed to continuing this beautiful journey: building community, celebrating and preserving our roots, creating safe spaces, and most importantly, paving the way for those who come after us. And this is only the beginning! 🎉 Join us this Sunday at the Calgary Pride Parade as we proudly mark our 8th Anniversary! 🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ LINK IN BIO ↗️↗️↗️ Follow us and stay connected for all the exciting activities and celebrations we have planned! Thank you to every person, artist, volunteer, community member, partner, and supporter who has been part of our journey. Colores del Alma exists because of YOU. ❤️ #ColoresDelAlma #8YearsStrong #CalgaryPride #YYCPRIDE #coloresyyc

On Thursday, June 25, Colores del Alma held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and launched the 2026 Pride float. During our gathering, we gratefully reflected on our work from the past year. We celebrated our achievements and successes, reaffirming our commitment to our Latin LGBTQ+ community.✨️ It was a wonderful moment to acknowledge the challenges faced and to connect warmly with our peers. Our event began with a heartfelt Treaty 7 land acknowledgment, followed by a proud review of 2025, an introduction of our dedicated Board of Directors and passionate Colores volunteers, and an honour for @mariancrisla with our community award for her ongoing support, contributions, and steadfast allyship to the Latinx LGBTQ+ community in Calgary. Additionally, we proudly presented the lead for this year's Colores del Alma Pride float, creatively designed and presented by @nachoskins (Ignacio Navarrete), who shared his inspiring vision and artistry with us. We are now welcoming registered members to march with Colores del Alma at the Calgary Pride Parade 2026 (Link in Bio). A huge thank you to our performers at the @salvadorianfolk_yyc (Calgary Salvadorian Folklore Association) and our beloved queen, @@berrywetlatina (Berry Wet Latina) for amazing performances. Also, to @alcarswell and @twistedelementyyc for hosting us and ensuring we had a memorable time, and a special thank you to @victorsicilia (Victor Miranda) for capturing our joyful moments through incredible photographs. Thank you all for your contributions, ongoing support, and love for our community. We are excited and look forward to another incredible year ahead. Muchas gracias from the entire Colores del Alma team 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨️ #Coloresyyc #Calgarypride #Prideyyc #LGBTQ+ #Latinopride
