Back at @imagination_haven_ today after not making it along for a little while, and I was reminded that creative play sessions can hold so much more than what we see on the surface.

We see the little ones immersed in play — exploring, creating, experimenting and connecting.

But sometimes, quietly beside all of that, the grown-ups are finding connection too.

Today I found myself talking with another mum and having one of those conversations where you realise just how many parts of your stories overlap. IVF. Parenting without much of a village. The way motherhood can shift your sense of who you are and leave you wondering where you fit in a career you once felt so certain about.

There’s something really special about meeting someone who just gets it. Someone you click with. Someone who understands the juggle, shares some of the same experiences and seems to see this season of motherhood through a similar lens.

Sometimes we take our children somewhere to fill their cups, and without really expecting it, ours gets filled a little too. 💚 taken in 68 Waverley Community Spaces and Groups by @imagination_haven_

A little glimpse into the heart behind Imagination Haven 🌿

Hi, I’m Ayesha, mum, teacher, and the founder behind this little space.

I moved to Perth 2.5 years ago from rural NSW,
after growing up in Sydney (with my beginnings in London) a journey that has slowly shaped the life we now live here.

My background is in education, where I’ve worked as a classroom teacher, learning support teacher, and whole school art specialist. Roles that deepened my love for creativity, individuality, and the way children learn through play.

Creativity has always been part of me. Im constantly experimenting with art, craft, photography and finding inspiration in nature and everyday moments.

Imagination Haven grew from a desire to create something meaningful, a space where little ones can explore freely, where families can connect and where creativity is nurtured without pressure or expectation.

In the midst of our busy, full lives, I believe in slowing things down, being present, and creating space for creativity, connection, and simple moments together.

Some of the most beautiful moments in play happen when children are free to follow their own ideas. ✨

When we give children the freedom to explore, experiment and follow their own curiosity, something pretty special happens.

They discover. They problem-solve. They take risks, make mistakes, try again and surprise us with what they create.

There’s no finished product to aim for, no right or wrong way to play. Just the joy of the process and all the wonderful learning that happens along the way.

Sometimes the most magical thing we can do is simply provide the space, the materials and the freedom to let little imaginations lead. 🌿

We’ve slowly become Friday morning regulars at @imagination_haven_—
tucked away in a quiet garden in Dianella that feels worlds away from the rush of the week.

After long days, packed schedules and everything that comes with life in between…
this is where we come to exhale.

A haven for families to slow down, connect and explore the magic of play together.

Where time stretches out just a little longer.
Where the to-do list softens.
Where I find myself fully present again — sitting beside him instead of thinking about what comes next.

Some children disappear into magical small worlds — dragons and fairies nestled amongst the trees.
Others (like mine) become completely absorbed in collaborative artwork, using nature’s painting tools to create something entirely their own.
And some are happily drenched head to toe in water play by 9:45am. 🫠

It’s messy.
But peaceful.

Cosy.
But expansive.

Each session thoughtfully combines sensory experiences, process art and open-ended exploration — nurturing creativity, sparking imagination and building meaningful connections along the way.

And the drop-in, arrive-anytime nature of the session?
It only adds to the relaxed Friday feel. No rushing. No pressure. Just come as you are.

With gentle music playing in the background, morning tea provided and easy chats between caregivers — Ayesha has created more than just a play session. As a mum and educator, her warmth is felt in every detail as she moves through the space encouraging little ones to create, explore and imagine at their own pace.

Creative Play Friday is our little end-of-week exhale. 🌿

A chance to slow down, step away from the rush and spend a morning simply being with your little one.

To create, explore and play together.
To wander out into the garden.
To connect with other grown-ups while the little ones follow their curiosity.

No pressure. No rushing from one thing to the next. Just calm, child-led play and time together. 🤎

Because life moves fast… and sometimes we all need a reminder to slow down.

Term 3 was full of colour, creativity, exploring, experimenting and SO much play and we loved sharing it with every little one who joined us 🌿

🌈 Colour Lab at Creative Play Friday

Today was all about giving little ones the freedom to explore, experiment and create in their own way. No right or wrong, no finished product... just an inviting space filled with colour, texture and possibilities.

Mixing, pouring, scooping, rolling, building, creating… and making their own little discoveries along the way.

I love watching where their imaginations take them when we simply provide the space and materials and let them lead. 💛
