Hi Everyone,

A quick update on Dean's Dam.

We are making steady progress with the necessary legal and administrative processes and are currently obtaining quotations for the restoration work and an upgraded camera system for the future livestream.

A sincere thank you to everyone who has already contributed and supported the project.

🇧🇷E para fechar os registros dos nossos dias no Imagine Africa, um pouco do que existia entre um encontro e outro durante os safáris. 🤍

Acordar ainda no escuro, sair de carro enquanto o dia começava a clarear, passar horas percorrendo a reserva e terminar a tarde vendo o sol se pôr no meio da savana.

Mas olhando essas fotos agora, acho que uma das melhores partes foi ter vivido tudo isso ao lado dos meus pais. Nosso primeiro safári na África virou uma coleção de momentos que eu sei que vamos lembrar para sempre.

Essas são algumas das fotos que eu mais queria guardar dessa experiência. 🇿🇦

🇺🇸And to wrap up the memories from our days at Imagine Africa, a little bit of everything that happened between one wildlife encounter and the next. 🤍

Waking up while it was still dark, heading out as the sky began to brighten, spending hours exploring the reserve, and ending the afternoon watching the sun set in the middle of the African bush.

But looking back at these photos now, I think one of the best parts was experiencing all of this with my parents. Our first safari in Africa became a collection of moments that I know we’ll remember forever.

These are some of the photos I most wanted to keep from this experience. 🇿🇦

🇧🇷Um álbum que eu estava doida para postar: alguns dos encontros que tivemos durante os nossos safáris no Imagine Africa. 🐘🦁

E uma coisa que eu aprendi rapidinho por lá é que não existe foto planejada. Você não escolhe quem vai aparecer, a distância, a luz e muito menos quanto tempo aquele animal vai ficar ali. É observar, aproveitar e, quando dá, registrar.

Teve encontro bem de pertinho, manadas inteiras, cenas que renderam vários minutos só olhando e alguns momentos em que eu ainda consegui virar a câmera e garantir uma selfie de lembrança. 😂

Esses foram alguns dos animais que encontramos durante os nossos dias no @imagineafricalodge. E acho que as fotos conseguem mostrar um pouquinho da sorte que tivemos por lá. 🤍

🇺🇸An album I couldn’t wait to share: some of the wildlife encounters we had during our safaris at @imagineafricalodge. 🐘🦁

One thing I learned very quickly is that there’s no such thing as a planned photo on safari. You don’t get to choose which animal will appear, the distance, the light, or how long it will stay. You simply watch, enjoy the moment and, when you can, capture it.

We had some incredibly close encounters, saw entire herds, spent several minutes simply watching certain scenes unfold, and somehow I even managed to turn the camera around for a few safari selfies. 😂

These were some of the animals we encountered during our days at Imagine Africa. And I think these photos show just a little of how lucky we were out there. 🤍

🇧🇷Um pouquinho mais desse lugar que foi a nossa casa no Greater Kruger. 🤍

O Imagine Africa tem exatamente o tipo de hospedagem que combina com uma viagem de safári: poucas acomodações, muito contato com a natureza e espaços que fazem você querer aproveitar o lodge também nos intervalos dos game drives.

Separei algumas das minhas fotos preferidas para mostrar melhor os detalhes por aqui, porque em vídeo passa tão rápido que muita coisa acaba ficando de fora.

E olha… escolher só 20 já não foi fácil. 😂

Qual cantinho vocês escolheriam para passar as horas entre um safári e outro?

Imagine Africa has exactly the kind of setting that feels right for a safari trip: only a few accommodations, nature all around you, and spaces that make you want to enjoy the lodge just as much between game drives.

Ever seen a male lion pull back his upper lip and wondered what he’s doing? This is called the Flehmen response.
By curling his lip and slightly opening his mouth, the lion draws scents toward a special organ called the Jacobson’s organ, located in the roof of his mouth. This helps him analyse interesting smells—especially chemical signals left by other lions.
It can help him gather information about who has been in the area, whether a female may be ready to mate, and what’s happening within his territory.
So when a lion makes that funny-looking face, he’s not pulling a strange expression… he’s gathering information from the world through scent.

🇧🇷Uma das grandes razões para escolher uma hospedagem nessa região da África do Sul é poder viver o safári dentro de uma reserva privada.

O Imagine Africa fica na Olifants West Nature Reserve, na região do Greater Kruger, e os game drives fazem parte da experiência da hospedagem.

São duas saídas por dia, pela manhã e no final da tarde, sempre acompanhadas pelo guia, e cada uma delas nos proporcionou momentos completamente diferentes.

Foram dias muito especiais por aqui, daqueles que ficam marcados para sempre. Nosso primeiro contato com um safári na África não poderia ter começado de uma forma melhor.

🇺🇸One of the great reasons to choose a lodge in this region of South Africa is the opportunity to experience a safari within a private reserve.

Imagine Africa is located in Olifants West Nature Reserve, in the Greater Kruger region, and game drives are part of the lodge experience.

There are two game drives a day, in the morning and late afternoon, always accompanied by a guide, and each one gave us completely different experiences.

🇧🇷Como é um dia em um safari lodge no Greater Kruger? 🐘

No Imagine Africa, o dia começa cedo, com o primeiro game drive antes mesmo do sol nascer. No meio do caminho, uma pausa na savana para um lanche e, depois, voltamos para o lodge para um café da manhã completo.

Entre uma atividade e outra, ainda tem tempo para descansar e aproveitar o lodge. Depois vem o almoço e, no final da tarde, saímos novamente para o segundo game drive, com direito a uma parada para apreciar o pôr do sol no meio da savana.

À noite, depois de continuar o safári já no escuro, voltamos para o jantar, que pode ser servido no deck ou no boma ao redor do fogo.

E no dia seguinte, tudo começa de novo. Dois game drives por dia, refeições incluídas e uma rotina completamente cercada pela natureza.

🇺🇸What is a day at a safari lodge in Greater Kruger like? 🐘

At Imagine Africa, the day starts early, with the first game drive before the sun even rises. Along the way, we stop in the bush for a little snack before heading back to the lodge for a full breakfast.

Between activities, there’s still time to relax and enjoy the lodge. Then comes lunch, and in the late afternoon, we head out for our second game drive, including a stop in the middle of the bush to enjoy the sunset.

After continuing the safari into the night, we return to the lodge for dinner, which can be served on the deck or in the boma around the fire.

And the next day, it all starts again. Two game drives a day, meals included, and a daily routine completely surrounded by nature.

🇧🇷Nossa primeira hospedagem de safári na África do Sul foi o @imagineafricalodge, localizado dentro da Olifants West Nature Reserve, na região do Greater Kruger.

Com apenas seis acomodações, o lodge tem uma proposta mais reservada, cercada pela savana e com uma estrutura totalmente integrada à natureza.

Nesse primeiro vídeo mostro um pouco de cada espaço. No próximo, vou mostrar como funciona um dia completo por lá e, depois, tudo o que vivemos durante os safáris.
