I always talk about how calligraphy combines three things I love: art, language and human connection. Engraving is a natural extension of my craft, and I love the opportunity to turn special gifts like perfume and candles into custom keepsake items for people. Over the years, I have so many stories and sweet interactions tucked into my heart. ❤️

I’m excited to share that there is now complimentary engraving services at @rennaibeauty every Saturday afternoon! This is a perfect time to plan for your custom gifting, especially for special events (looking at you, engaged folks!). Depending on the day, you can meet me, @didi.letters, @neilsonletters or @preciouspenman for bespoke engraving on products purchased at Rennaï (some exclusions apply). We will also be engraving orders placed through Rennaï’s online shop.

Je parle souvent du fait que la calligraphie réunit trois choses que j’aime profondément : l’art, le langage et les liens humains. La gravure est un prolongement tout naturel de mon métier, et j’adore avoir l’occasion de transformer des cadeaux spéciaux, comme des parfums ou des chandelles, en souvenirs personnalisés que les gens garderont précieusement. Au fil des ans, j’ai une foule de belles histoires et de doux souvenirs que je porte dans mon cœur. ❤️

Have engraving drill, will travel! ✍🏻🧳🚊

I traveled to Quebec City this month with my friend and colleague @preciouspenman to engrave wine bottles for a corporate event at the @fairmontfrontenac. I love customized wine bottles as gifts, especially when people can commemorate a special occasion with an inscription of their choice. 🍷❤️

Oh goodness, the fall issue of @uppercasemag is a beauty! Chock full of maps and paths to inspiration, the magazine features artist @helencannart who created an intricate compass rose illustration for the cover. I had the pleasure of interviewing Helen about her artistic journey, as well as pouring through her delightful book “Hand Drawn Maps: A Guide for Creatives.” She opened my eyes to so many possibilities, from maps of cities, transit systems and ideas to the human body (through palmistry and phrenology) and even the senses (for example, noting the intensity of different odours throughout a neighbourhood).

As Helen writes “Hand-crafted cartography offers something digital maps could never do; it reveals something richly fascinating about a given landscape, its culture and history, and the unique character of the cartographers themselves.”

When your love of calligraphy and romance novels collide… ✍🏻🩷🧬

Last summer, I quietly geeked out while customizing petri dishes and journals for a group of content creators who got to visit the set of @thelovehypothesismovie with @primevideo and @sundaecreativeagency. 🩷 A year later, the trailer has me beyond excited for the movie; talk about perfect casting!

I recently had the pleasure of engraving compact mirrors for @pilgrim.canada, to celebrate their new collection.

And talk about a tempting place to work for three days! I treated myself to several pieces, my favourite being the Evon ear cuff set. ☀️

Practice makes progress! ✍🏻

I had such a lovely time teaching at @studio.inkwaves, sharing my love of calligraphy with a group of beginners. It’s always important to me to demystify oblique penholder and nibs, getting folks off on the right foot on their calligraphy journey. And it’s always a treat to share space with people who also love letters, words and handwriting. 🤍
