Pretty awesome hearing Impact Countertops come up in conversation on the Stone Chatter Podcast.

We’ve put a tremendous amount of effort into building something different here in Columbus, Ohio. To hear that work being recognized by people we respect in this industry means more than they probably know.

Pretty cool moment for our entire team. by @impactcountertop

If you’re planning a kitchen right now, the numbers moved on you twice in three weeks.
July 22: Brazilian granite and marble picked up an extra 25%.
August 15: imported engineered quartz gets hit — 25%, and 50% once the quota fills.
Quartzite came out exempt from both. So did porcelain. That’s not me selling you something — that’s just where the scope lines landed.

This is what AI generated countertop content looks like. 👀 Not all content is created equal — especially when AI is involved. 😂

When I was a kid, this was our pantry. Now luxury homes have three separate kitchens with fancy names. Does anyone actually know the difference?

I was showing my son where Taj Mahal quartzite comes from and somehow discovered there are apparently FIVE oceans now 😂

Did you already know about the Southern Ocean or no?

Most countertop shops would never attempt this vanity.

Integrated sink.
Curved apron.
Fully wrapped stone.

Projects like this are why true custom fabrication still matters.

It’s a small upgrade… but it changes everything.

Would you do this?

This beautiful piece of marble has quite a story. It was sourced from what the team at Impact Countertops in Columbus, Ohio affectionately call the “bone pile” - the place where leftover or remnant slabs are stored. What some might overlook, Kevin sees as opportunity.

He credits the homeowner for having the vision to select this particular piece.

The movement, the variation, the life within the stone bring so much character to the powder bath that it truly becomes the centerpiece of the room.

Kevin often says he’s not much of a synthetic guy. In his experience, it’s hard to replicate the depth and interest found in natural materials.

The very imperfections in real stone are what make it perfect.

Another reason he loves the bone pile is practicality.

These remnant pieces can be a more affordable option, often comparable in cost to synthetic alternatives, while offering authenticity and beauty that feel one of a kind. It’s a path he would absolutely recommend exploring.

It’s a reminder that great design isn’t always about spending more - it’s about choosing wisely.

That philosophy has guided Kevin Knight as a custom home builder in Columbus, Ohio for over 50 years, creating homes filled with materials that tell a story and stand the test of time.
