An idea can sound absurd right up until the culture catches up to it

When Abdullah Saeed @imyourkid helped create Bong Appétit for @vice , the goal was bigger than making a cannabis food show

He wanted to create something people inside the culture could recognize themselves in, and something they could put in front of the people who still did not understand them

Years later, strangers would tell report back that they had done exactly that

They sat their parents down, showed them the series, and suddenly there was common ground where there had not been any before

A strange idea became a shared language by @imyourkid

#SlabbySessions is something I have wanted to bring to life for a while

the idea is simple

sit down with people who carved their own lane, followed what they actually cared about and somehow turned that into a life

i could not think of a better person to start with than Abdullah Saeed @imyourkid

Abdullah is a writer, journalist and screenwriter whose work has crossed cannabis, food, television and culture, from Bong Appétit to creating and running @deliboyshulu

For our first session we got into his relationship with cannabis, where writing has taken him and the different worlds he’s been able to build within

This is just a piece of the conversation, more #ComingSoon by @imyourkid

Thank you @westlifebunny @collider for an incredibly thoughtful piece on the plight of creatives in a field where 'nobody knows anything' but it's clear that original series stand a chance if you let them breathe. by @imyourkid
