An idea can sound absurd right up until the culture catches up to it

When Abdullah Saeed @imyourkid helped create Bong Appétit for @vice , the goal was bigger than making a cannabis food show

He wanted to create something people inside the culture could recognize themselves in, and something they could put in front of the people who still did not understand them

Years later, strangers would tell report back that they had done exactly that

They sat their parents down, showed them the series, and suddenly there was common ground where there had not been any before

A strange idea became a shared language

i loved every single second of working on this show. it was the job of my lifetime. i love our crew very much, they have become my chicago family. i love our entire cast, i hope i get to work with them again and again and again.

i hope this show has inspired south asian artists to take big swings in this industry. this is just the beginning for us all and we have a lot more work to do. i also hope this show inspired everyone else to support projects from marginalized communities. we don’t get too many opportunities, so we need to get behind the ones we have in front of us.

thank you all so much for watching the show and loving it and for reaching out and for telling your friends and family about it. this show changed our lives and our perception of what is possible for people that look like us. now we keep going.
