Volunteer applications for the 2027 season are open.

Every on-resort day we run is led by volunteers: a lead and a few assistants who get people checked in, skins on, and up the hill together. Last season 76 volunteers gave 2,295 hours.

This winter you can lead or assist on on-resort days, support our guides on backcountry days, help at events, host a weekday tour, or coordinate a mountain. We tour in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, we are bringing IST to Colorado this winter, and we are working on new venues in New York, and potentially Massachusetts and Connecticut.

You do not need to be an expert. Apply at the link in our bio. It takes about ten minutes, and we reply to everyone in late November.

After the season ended this past March, we dove into years of records to review and rebuild all of our underlying data, ensuring everything is consistent year over year. It was a fantastic project that taught us a lot and left us better for it, though it took much longer than we anticipated.

By the time we finished, summer was in full swing and winter felt far away, so we decided to wait until now to share the updates with you. With the rebuild complete and six seasons of data fully reconciled, you can count on us sharing these reports much sooner after future seasons close.

A couple weekends ago, we had an AWESOME day out on a Queer Intro to Backcountry Program with @inclusiveskitouring! With an intimidating forecast, we were ready to adjust our plans, but the sun poked out and gave us a beautiful day (even a rainbow)! Huge thank you to IST leaders Stu and Parker for co-hosting this event alongside our own Moa and Will - and to our awesome participants for showing up and testing their skills in the backcountry! We had a blast practicing our AVA turns, talking touring tips, and just getting to know each other in a safe, welcoming space. Fresh snow, a quiet mountain, and such a good crew for our final Queer Tour of the season at @mtabramskiarea yesterday 💛

We’ve got just two on-resort programs left in our 2026 season, one Women’s Program and one Open to All Program, both at Mt. Abram this upcoming weekend.

Each program is $20, but anyone can waive the fee with code INCLUSIVE2026 at checkout. Uphill rental gear is also available through the Mt. Abram rental shop at a $25 discount for IST participants.

These programs are subject to uphill access and mountain operations remaining open. If anything changes and a program needs to be canceled, all registered participants will be notified directly by email and issued a full refund.

A quick conditions update: We’ve seen a rapid shift over the past week or so, with spring temperatures taking hold and snowpack starting to change fast. Up until now, we’ve been fortunate to avoid major freeze-thaw cycles and rain on snow events, which helped preserve coverage and keep conditions strong for much of the season.

With this recent warmup, though, snow is melting quickly and mountain conditions and operations can change fast.

On this end, we’re staying in close contact with all of our mountain partners to make sure programs are set to run each weekend. If a program is open for signup, it is currently scheduled to run. If there are any last-minute changes due to snow availability or mountain operations, all registered participants will be contacted right away.

If a program does need to be canceled, everyone will receive a full refund.

Week twelve is here ❄️ and we’ve got a strong lineup across New Hampshire and Maine for our second-to-last weekend of the season, including three backcountry days on Mt. Washington, our final queer program of the season, our final program of the year at Cranmore, and more!

Saturday 3/21

• Intro to Backcountry (Mt. Washington): a fully guided introduction to backcountry travel focused on foundational skills, smart decision-making, and building confidence beyond resort boundaries. (5 spots left)

• Intro to Ski/Snowboard Mountaineering (Mt. Washington): an immersive day focused on advanced uphill travel techniques, mountain hazard assessment, core mountaineering skills, and the use of crampons and an ice axe. (Full)

• Women’s Program (Mt. Abram ): a welcoming, community-forward on-resort touring day centered around women and non-binary participants.

• Tuckerman Infrerno (Mt. Washington): a legendary spring challenge supporting the Mount Washington Avalanche Center Foundation, with multiple race formats and a big community atmosphere! (Not our event, just sharing)

Sunday 3/22

• IST Queer Program (Mt. Abram): a welcoming on-resort touring day centered around queer community, connection, and shared time outside.

• Open to All Program (Cranmore): a fun, inclusive on-resort touring day open to everyone. This is our final IST program at Cranmore for the season.

• Intro to Backcountry (Mt. Washington): a fully guided introduction to backcountry travel focused on foundational skills, smart decision-making, and building confidence beyond resort boundaries. (5 spots left)

On-resort programs are $20, and anyone can waive the fee with code INCLUSIVE2026. Backcountry programs have scholarship opportunities available. Every IST program is no-drop, which means no one will be rushed or left behind.

What an amazing day at our first Uphill Against Hunger this past Saturday, 3/14/26 💛 With fresh snow, great energy, adventurous conditions, and an awesome turnout, it was such a special day at Black Mountain of Maine.

Together, we raised over $2,000 for local food pantries in Rumford. Huge thanks to everyone who came out, to @blackmountainofmaine for hosting, and to @mahoosuc_landtrust, @hannafordmkts, and @llbean for their support in helping make this event happen! Lastly, a special thank you to Bill Yeo for championing this event.
