Leiden, June 2024.

A museum? In the evening? Art, performance, and meaning? Sounded like something for the cultured elite. Not really for a guy like me, born in the countryside, I mean from the pijp - more into running shoes than museum floors. But hey… sometimes you get surprised.

Thanks to @britt.krv (you legend) I ended up wandering through Leiden at night, camera in hand, brain on record. I saw things. Heard things. Felt things. It was weird. It was fun. It was actually… kinda great?

Turns out culture doesn’t always whisper. Sometimes it walks next to you, eats a stroopwafel, and says: “I’m accessible to everyone”. That is what @museumnachtleiden was to me.

Amsterdam, May 2025

When I was younger, my average pace was n.a. I hated everything sports-related, endurance, strength, you name it.

But since moving to De Pijp, things changed. Somehow… I became “a runner”. Together with @mob.movement, the run club that’s more than a run club, I now do weekly intervals, haver cappu’s, long runs, matcha lattes, fancy dinners and soon electrolytes drinks. All powered by them (and a slightly overactive ego).

So why the photos? Well, turns out: ego ≠ invincibility. After running two marathons in one month, my knee kindly told me to sit down. So I did. And picked up the camera. Snapped some shots for the team. Stayed part of it. FOMO fully active. But still grateful to be there.

Lens in hand, legs on pause.

Bilbao, March 2024. (accidentally)

Last year I was supposed to fly to Mallorca for a shoot with an colleague from the tok, influencer stuff, you know.
Only… I didn’t quite make it. What was supposed to be a 60 minute transfer in Zaragoza, became an emergency landing in Bilbao because of “heavy weather”. So I missed my flight. Ended up staying in Bilbao for two days.

I went to the Guggenheim. And let me tell you: I still don’t get modern art. There was this one canvas, entirely black except for a tiny unpainted square inch, and people were pondering. Full-on “mmm, the tension between presence and absence” vibes. Meanwhile I stood there wondering if the artist just ran out of paint.

Anyway, I took some photos of the weirdness.
And weirdly… I kinda love them. Maybe not because I get them, but because they made me feel like I was part of someone else’s very serious fever dream.

Amsterdam, june 2024.

Food photography has a special place in my heart. Both because I just love the art of flavors, but also because I often get to experience not just the dishes, but the story and soul of the chef behind them. This time was no exception, I shot for @lefoodwalk, a walking journey through the Amsterdam Jordaan, where five restaurants open their doors (and kitchens) for a curated tasting of stories, flavors, and wines.

What made it extra special was how each stop had its own personality, from bold spices to delicate pairing, yet it all flowed as one experience. As a photographer (and food lover), capturing that progression felt like documenting a perfectly plated storyline. Loved the concept, loved the pictures, loved the food.

Amsterdam, October 2024.

Shot for the incredibly talented @rubenjurrien, an Amsterdam-based designer working with @levi’s on a piece of denim that fits every body type for Levi’s. One garment, 5 models. And honestly? It worked. Like magic.

Loved this shoot. Never thought I’d have such a soft spot for fashion. Not long ago a colleague said: “You’ve been dressing pretty ‘white straight boy’ lately.”

Was it a compliment? A warning? An intervention? I still don’t know. Probably should ask Ruben for some tips. Or maybe I just lean into the early midlife crisis and call it personal style.

Amsterdam, January 2025.

Fun fact: before this gig, I’d never set foot in a coffeeshop.

Fast forward to The Bulldog personnel party, and I’m shooting photos under floating joints on balloons. Leidseplein turned Wild West. Amazing food, stoned cowboys, and a very relaxed photographer (let’s just say my bike ride home was… Really slow and slightly giggly).

Not my daily scene, but honestly? I had a blast. Still not sure if I left high or just really satisfied. Maybe both.

Bosnia, February 2024.

This story starts, as many good (and bad) ones do, with a night out and some questionable financial decisions. Somewhere around the release of the iPhone 14, I almost bought one. But drunk-euphoric me had a better idea: Instead of spending the money on something i don’t need, why not spend the money on something I don’t need, but that would at least last forever?

A memory. So I bought flights. To Bosnia with my dad. To Iceland with my mom. (We’ll get to that one later.)
Bosnia turned into a raw 5-day roadtrip. Mountains. Cold rivers. Local food. And conversations I didn’t know I needed with my father.

Was it rational?
No.

Was it worth it?
Every cent.

Biddinghuizen, October 2024.

I have some weird hobbies. One of them: scaring people for fun. And somehow… I got paid for it.

A few years back I joined Walibi Fright Nights. What most people don’t see is the insane amount of work behind it. Directors. Make-up artists. Set builders. Movement coaches. A full-on production for five seconds of pure fear.

Proud to be part of the chaos, even prouder of my phenomenal colleagues who pour their heart (and prosthetics) into this madness.

Also slightly concerned how many people enjoyed the torture. But hey… we all need a hobby (or 10). I could try to focus on just one. But where’s the fun in that?

Amsterdam, April 2024.

Some know me as a generalist. 101 hobbies. Always trying to be *just* above average. Call it a superiority complex, call it boredom. 🤷‍♂️

When I moved to Amsterdam, I fell into food. Not just eating it. Creating it. Textures, colors, flavors, trying to make taste feel like a story.

After many failed experiments, burnt chickpeas, and one melted spatula (for real)… this became “the one”. Potato & beet roses, bathed in rose water, resting on basil-chickpea cream, with mint, pomegranate, and molasses.

Sometimes served with steak. This one? Just for the gram, plated with edible flowers. Cookbook cover, maybe. Release date? Somewhere around 2058, once my hobbies stop unionizing.

Babberich, June 2024.

Her 21st, Roughly 2.5 years late. But what’s time when you’re @annebosma_ : the multitasking, big-hearted, chaotic, slightly unhinged genius who somehow works at a notary’s office, juggles three studies, and still has more social energy than me on a double double-espresso.

We’ve survived carnaval seasons, fruhshop hangovers, and more koffie-aan-de-keukentafel moments than I can count. And I’m so grateful those coffee moments are slowly making their way to De Pijp.

Even when Anne wasn’t home, Judith, her mother, made me feel like I was. Coffee. Soup. Or Sieb-Jan with his brutally Dutch “Blijf eten joh.”

This place, this family, this feeling. It shaped me more than I ever said out loud. So today I’ll say it: I love you guys. Thanks for being part of my story. 🫶

Lago di Garda, March 2024.

I went looking for focus. So i booked a last-minute remote work week by Lago di Garda. Then a thought hit me mid-coffee: What if I took them with me?

My grandparents. The OGs.

They were skeptical. I was stubborn. Four days later, 7 to departure, they said yes.

We shared sunsets, stories, and daily gelato. They wandered, I worked. And somewhere in between we made a memory I’ll hold for a long, long time. (Aren’t they cute?)

Iceland, October 2021.

This is where it started. New phone, big dreams, zero clue. (#shotoniphone) Hoped I was gonna be a travel influencer, turns out I just really love framing things…

This was the first photo I was proud of. Not even six months later I bought my first camera. Though if you ask my oma, the obsession started with the cheap Sony camera she gave me at 11. Or with my middle school hustle: €10 a photo for the local paper, two pics a week, baby. Early signs of an overachiever with a lens.
