‘What’s your brand ?’

I was just talking to a fellow therapist and she was talking about branding, and I started to laugh as I recalled the below - and how naive I am about marketing !

Someone once asked me, ‘
‘What’s your brand?’
My answer?
‘I AM my brand.’
And that’s enough.

What do you think—does that resonate?
I have no clue about marketing and I know that may hold me back , and maybe I will do something about that whenever I get time from my hectic private practice as a psychotherapist, but for now - I AM my brand !

This client showed up every single week, for 6 months, and did the deep work involved in trauma therapy.
Proud does not express adequately how I feel about this client.

Do the work. Invest in therapy . Invest in yourself. Break generational patterns.
I’m exhausted at the moment , but receiving this email , I’m fulfilled , Humbled and honoured.
Thank you

“Please be kind to one another. If you have one takeaway from this talk - let it be this - #bekind “

So I’ve gone from being a regular therapist in my private practice to also being a self-employed mental health awareness motivational speaker- just like that !

So let me share something with you;
IM TIRED 🥱
I’m tired of these social media messages telling us all that we don’t need anyone - we can go it alone - do it alone - to be independent and so on and so on !
Please take these with a large pinch of salt.
It’s great to be independent - sure 👌 BUT us human beings we are wired for connection. We thrive in connection with others.

Let me start at the beginning - a baby is born, and simply for its own survival it is wired to be Co-dependant with its caregiver - for food , warmth - survival.

Neuroscience has shown that we are neurologically wired to connect with others; mirror neurons in our brains are stimulated when we r engaging with other people. Literally, when we are talking to someone, pathways in our brain light up to mirror the emotions and behaviors that the other person is communicating.

So you see we thrive in connection.
Sure you can do it alone - but it’s so much more nurturing to be connected.

Research has shown that those who are connected to family , friends or even just one or two people in their community - experience better rates of mental health and lower rates of ailments.

So - nurture your connections .
Be kind to one another - it can be quite tough out there in this wonderful world of ours right now.

Kindness makes it easier.

With kindness

The older I get, the less I want a life that looks impressive and the more I want a life that feels meaningful.

The older I get, the more I realise that life’s greatest luxuries cannot always be bought.

Good health. Genuine friendships. Family. Connections where the energy flows and is nurturing .
Peace of mind. Meaningful work. People who bring warmth into your life and moments that remind you to slow down and simply enjoy being here.

I value less of what impresses others and more of what nourishes my soul.

To choose connection over competition, kindness over judgement, and quality over quantity.

And to appreciate the women who open their doors, share their time, and remind us that life is a little more beautiful when we make room for one another.

Perhaps growing older isn’t about having it all figured out.

Perhaps it’s about finally understanding what matters.

Less chasing. More living.
Less proving. More connecting.
And above all, never taking our health, our friendships or our time for granted. ❤️
Thanks Susan for a timely spa day.
Fun. Low key , chill , 1-1 day

I FAILED❗️
I STOPPED.
I REASSESSED.
I RECALIBRATED.
THEN I DID IT. 💪🏼

Today, I took on the monkey bars. Proper monkey bars! 😂

First attempt? Failed. Literally.

So I stopped. Took a breath. Reassessed. Recalibrated. And tried again.

Was it perfect? No.
Was it exactly how I wanted to do it? No.
Did I do it? YES! 🙌🏼

And there’s a lesson in that.

Sometimes, life requires us to do exactly the same thing.
We try something new, stumble, fall short of our expectations and question ourselves.

In that moment, we have a choice. We can judge ourselves and walk away, or pause, reflect, adjust our approach and try again.

Failure isn’t always proof that we can’t do something. Sometimes, it’s simply feedback telling us we need a different approach.

As a psychotherapist, I often reflect on how much of our growth comes not from getting everything right, but from learning how to respond when things don’t go to plan.

Resilience isn’t about never falling.
Confidence isn’t about never doubting yourself.
Strength isn’t about getting it right the first time.

It’s about learning to tolerate discomfort, adapting and moving forward without allowing one unsuccessful attempt to define us.

And perhaps most importantly, it’s about giving ourselves permission to be beginners again.

To be imperfect.
To feel uncomfortable.
To look a little ridiculous.
To try something that challenges us.

Because growth rarely happens when we stay safely within the boundaries of what we already know.

Today, it was monkey bars. Tomorrow, it might be something much bigger.

STOP. BREATHE. REASSESS. RECALIBRATE. TRY AGAIN.

You don’t have to get it perfect.
You just have to be willing to keep learning.

The greatest victory isn’t always that you finally make it across. Sometimes, it’s that you refuse to let the first failure decide the outcome.

Here’s to being a work in progress, for me at 61 years of age , at every age, in every season of life.

Still learning. Still growing. Still challenging myself.

And absolutely nowhere near finished. 🖤💪🏼

God Bless this mess. 🖤✨

The highs that take your breath away. The lows that bring you to your knees. The unexpected twists, the heartbreaks, the lessons, the laughter, the people who change us, and the ones who teach us how to stand on our own.

Life isn’t always pretty. Sometimes it breaks you open, strips you back, and asks you to find your way again. Sometimes it surprises you with a kind of happiness you never saw coming.

And somewhere in between the beautiful and the broken, the chaos and the calm, we discover who we really are.

So here’s to all the colours of life. The dark shades that teach us depth, the bright ones that remind us to play, and every shade in between that makes us human.

May we never become so afraid of the lows that we forget to embrace the highs. May we keep our hearts open, our spirits wild, our laughter loud, and our courage bigger than our fears.

Because a perfect life was never the point.

A life that is felt, lived, loved and embraced in all its glorious imperfection? Now that’s something worth celebrating.

The mess. The magic. The becoming.

Bless this beautiful, complicated, extraordinary mess we call life. 🖤🥂✨

Epic fall on my arse❗️❗️❗️
The monkey bars taught me a lesson ❗️🙈

Yesterday, I watched a gym guy on the monkey bars and thought, WOW! 🤩

He looked at me and said, “But I’ve seen you work out. You can do that.”

I said, “Oh… if they were even!” 😂

So he moved a platform underneath the even ones, and I thought, Right then… challenge accepted.

I jumped up and gave it a go.

And guess what?
I did it !

So today I tried it again -
- and I fell on my arse ❗️😳

But I got back up and tried again.

And that’s the thing about life — sometimes we fall, sometimes we get it wrong, sometimes we surprise ourselves with what we can actually do.

The important bit isn’t whether you fall.

It’s whether you get back up and have another go.

Yesterday, somebody else believed I could do it before I believed it myself.

Today, I went back and tried it again.

And that little monkey-bar moment reminded me:

We often don’t know what we’re capable of until somebody challenges us — and we are brave enough to try. 💪🏼❤️

Keep trying. Keep challenging yourself. Keep getting back up.

You might surprise yourself. 🐒✨

If you are in my world you will have heard me say and witnessed that I’m very particular about the people I surround myself with .
This wasn’t always the case .
Hang - not literally !!!-
With people who lift you up - literally in this case 🤣🩷

I didn’t expect to fall in love at 61 ❤️

With golf🏌️‍♀️❤️
Just getting started at 61 !

It started with one group lesson a week in November.

The weather was awful, progress felt slow, and for months I wondered if I would ever actually feel like a golfer.

Then, in May, I stepped onto a golf course for the first time.

And something happened.

Oh my God… I LOVE being out here. 🌿

In June, the girls persuaded me to join the club.

In July, they encouraged me to get my handicap.

In August, I was suddenly playing four or five times a week.

And now here we are in September… a little compilation of the people, the laughter, the good shots, the terrible shots, the celebrations, the frustration, the lakes 😂 and all the moments in between.

I started with a handicap of 42.6.

As I built my 20 cards, it actually went up before it started coming down.

And that has been a lesson in itself.

Progress isn’t always linear.

It’s now 41.2, and after today’s scores of 44 and 48, I’m waiting to see what England Golf gives me next.

Maybe 40-ish tomorrow. Maybe not.

My current goal is 36 by the end of the year.

But honestly?

The number is becoming less important than the journey.

Because golf is teaching me far more than how to hit a ball.

It’s teaching me about patience.

About managing frustration.

About staying present after a bad shot.

About celebrating the good ones without getting attached to them.

About resilience.

About friendship.

About encouraging others — and allowing myself to be encouraged.

And, perhaps most importantly, about myself.

Golf has a funny way of holding up a mirror to human nature.

You can’t control the weather, the lie, the bounce, the other players, or sometimes even where that bloody ball is going. 😂

You can only control what you do next.

And isn’t that a little bit like life?

So here’s to starting something new at 61.

To being a beginner.

To laughing at ourselves.

To surrounding ourselves with people who cheer us on.

To discovering that we’re capable of much more than we thought.

And to remembering that it’s never too late to fall in love with something new. ❤️

Life lessons from the golf course ⛳️
You’ve been on this golf journey with me since my first swing on the range 🙏🏽🩷🙌🏾

November/December 2025: “I’ll just learn to play golf.”
September 2026: apparently I have an addiction. 😂🏌️‍♀️

After months of weekly range practice and group lessons, we finally got onto the course in May — and I was instantly hooked ⛳️

I started in the 60s, found my way into the 50s, and then somehow started flirting with the 40s. 😅
And I found my golf gang in the process 💫

And honestly, golf is teaching me a lot about life… patience, resilience, staying present, letting go of the last bad shot — and accepting that sometimes your ball is simply going into a ditch. 😂

There are good shots, terrible shots, unexpected victories, moments of frustration and A LOT of laughter with good golf buddies.

The best bit? The course is seven minutes from home. My gym is seven minutes from home. And my work as a psychotherapist can be emotionally demanding, so this is great downtime.

So yes, I may be here quite a lot.
But honestly… there are worse addictions. 😉

Still learning. Still improving. Still occasionally talking to my golf ball like it can hear me. ⛳️😂

DON’T JUDGE WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW.
In fact - don’t judge.
Period.

A little reminder for me today — and perhaps for someone else who needs it too.

I heard a pastor tell this story…

A woman was sitting at an airport waiting for her delayed flight. She bought a coffee and a packet of cookies and sat down next to a man, placing the packet between them .

Then the man reached over and took a cookie.

She was stunned.

The audacity of this man.

So she took a cookie.

He took another.

She couldn’t believe it.

Back and forth they went until there was only one cookie left. The man broke it in half, took one half and left the other for her.

Her flight was called. Still annoyed, she boarded the plane and settled into her seat.

She reached into her handbag for her handkerchief ….

…and found her unopened packet of cookies sitting inside.

She had spent the entire time judging a man for eating her cookies.

When, in fact, she had been eating his.

It made me think about how quickly we can form opinions about people when we don’t actually know the full story.

We see a snapshot.

We hear one sentence.

We make an assumption.

And suddenly we’ve created an entire story about someone else’s life.

But we don’t know what happens behind closed doors.

We don’t know what someone is carrying.

We don’t know how hard they work, what they’ve survived, what they’re dealing with, or what their life really looks like beyond the tiny piece we happen to see.

I’ve been judged enough in my own life to know how painful it can be to be reduced to someone else’s assumption.

And I’ve reached a point where I’m no longer willing to accept other people’s stories about me as though they are facts.

So perhaps the reminder is:

Pause before you judge.
Ask before you assume.
And remember that you may only be seeing one side of the story.

Because sometimes…

the cookies aren’t even yours. 🍪
I’m processing what was said to me here with you and in doing so I’ve let it go.
It wasn’t as much about me as a reflection of the person making the judgement.
Thank you for being on this journey with me.

THE ONLY HABIT YOU NEED TO IMPLEMENT IN YOUR LIFE IS DOING WHAT YOU SAY YOU ARE GOING TO DO.

A woman really does wear a lot of hats… 💁‍♀️
And what a privilege , if occasionally exhausting !

One minute I’m dressed up for a pre wedding soirée for my oldest friends daughter 🩷,
the next I’m trying to get my golf handicap,
then it’s gym mode,
then it’s time with mum , shopping for her essentials, running chores and grabbing ice cream with her.
Somewhere in between there are errands, laundry,
and now a three-hour round trip to the wedding Anand Karaj ! 🤪

Yes, I’m exhausted… but what a privilege that is.

None of these are just things on a to-do list.
They’re reminders of a life I GET to live. People I get to love.
A body that’s healthy enough to move. Friends and family worth showing up for.
My mum I still get to make memories with🩷

Life isn’t always easy, but even the hard, busy, tiring parts are often wrapped around something beautiful. What an honour it is to have people who need us,
places to be,
milestones to celebrate,
and ordinary moments that one day we’ll wish we could relive.

The older I get, the more I realise that a full calendar is often a reflection of a full heart.

So here’s to wearing all the hats… elegant one minute, golf visor the next, gym gear after that, and somewhere in between time for ice cream with mama bear.
I’ll take the exhaustion if it comes with this kind of life. 🤍

Life is a privilege , family and friends a gift.
Even the hard parts are bearable when we are in it together.
Love you all
Be kind
Someone more wise than I once said
“We are all just walking each other home.”
Love you
