A french bearded male house sparrow came for a moment and gave a great pose in the vicinity. Even though many people claim that the house sparrows are in danger, near our house we have ample number of house sparrow pairs. House sparrows are noisy and gregarious, often going around together in small flocks. The male house sparrow has a gray and rusty crown with pale cheeks and a black bib.

Brahminy Kite is having long relationship with the Indian culture. It is also known as red-backed sea-eagle and it is a medium sized raptor or bird of prey. In my childhood, this bird is my favourite and may be my first bird identification. It was believed that the sighting of the same brings good fortune as it is considered to be the vehicle of Lord Vishnu as per the Hindu mythology. They find their place in varieties of holy scriptures and in other components of culture. They are commonly found near waterbodies and eat dead fish and other prey. The word brahminy talks about the superior quality among all other kite species. Even though there are 4 subspecies, only one subspecies present in India.

"Amazing Red-necked Falcon (Falco chicquera chicquera) from Koonthankulam Bird Sanctuary, Tirunelveli,Tamilnadu.
