Saturday at the 20/20 Futures Symposium and exhibition @lcflondon_ celebrating the culmination of a groundbreaking programme devised and realised by Decolonising Arts Institute @unioftheartslondon
1/ a selection of the new commissions for the collection of @bradfordmuseums who hosted @sarahmapleart as artist in residence
2/ an excerpt of my essay, responding to the work that Sarah Maple made, on exhibition until 17 January 2026 alongside the new commissions of work by 19 artists selected to participate in the 20/20 Futures Programme
3-4/ just a couple of highlights from the symposium in which all the artists shone a light on their experiences in the insightful and deeply informative presentations they made - hearing all the artists speak was definitely the most engaging part of the symposium programme:
CONGRATULATIONS to each of the 20 artists for making bold, powerful and illuminating work
5-6/ the publication (in which my essay is reproduced)
7-8/ the exhibition introductory panel and external graphics, an exhibition not to be missed at London College of Fashion, Eastbank, Stratford until 17 January 2026

11-14 September – East Street Arts Open Studios https://eaststreetarts.org.uk/event/open-studios/

Starting tomorrow Thursday 11 September - East Street Arts Open Studios, followed by Leeds Open Studios. Read about it in writer and independent curator Charu Vallabhbhai's FEATURE on the Foudrinier in our September issue:

"The open studios programme at East Street Arts commences a little earlier than the weekend of Leeds Open Studios with a launch event on Thursday 11 September when Leeds poet Seki Lynch will be performing an evening of poetry accompanied by the soulful jazz sounds of Ozzy Moysey, Hugh Vincent and Mick Bardon from the Ancient Infinity Orchestra...

"For those interested in hands-on opportunities, on Saturday 13 September Leeds Print Workshop opens its doors allowing access to try out print-making, with drop in letterpress and screen printing as well as the opportunity to book onto a day long workshop in woodcut relief printing. In the afternoon at Convention House artist Georgia Green is running a two-colour Riso workshop on which spaces can be booked.

"On both Saturday and Sunday of the weekend, studio holder Gabriella Ranito-Baltazar presents live action painting. Visitors will be encouraged to witness the studio techniques and methods used to create large scale paintings as they develop. On the final afternoon of East Street Arts Open Studios, Dr Frances-Ann Norton will be holding drop-in sessions in religious icon painting. Participants will be guided, step-by step, in traditional Byzantine methods and symbology, in a free workshop where all materials will be provided.

"Visit East Street Arts on Leeds Open Studios weekend to be transported into a hidden realm that has been created by artists."
