Good morning, sunshines. A little peek into my Monday morning in the garden.

Honestly, when we slow down a bit, we can see the extraordinary in the ordinary.

I’m keeping the flowers blooming (yes, I see the powdery mildew starting) so I can keep these cuties fed, then collect seeds for next year.

I’m thinking about gifting a few little packets of zinnia seeds from my garden and would love to know if there’s interest. Leave me know below.

October, my fave month. I don’t know why so many think that just because it’s fall in the Hudson Valley, your garden needs to go to bed.

The pumpkins, birdhouse gourds and thornless blackberries are going strong. The zinnias and roses are still flowering, and I’m continually harvesting harvesting peppers, rosemary, eucalyptus, thyme, chives and oregano.

Meanwhile, I’m planting garlic, lettuce, spinach, radishes and turnips. All my seeds and garlic starts are from @epicgardening & @botanical_interests.

Sadly, the hydrangeas and sunflowers are finished for the season, but apparently I’m not.

Slow fall.

Lately I’ve been noticing just how much of my life at home still happens through a screen. I can spend all day craving slower, quieter moments and then somehow end up on my phone while sitting in the very home I’ve worked so hard to create.

Then I read a recent post from @ataylor.studio about analog living, and it really stayed with me. The irony is not lost on me that I’m sharing this on a screen.

So I’m working on making my time at home feel more like sanctuary. Slow mornings. A new magazine subscription. Handmade ceramic mugs. The last tomato harvest of the year. Cozy throws for cooler nights. And candles flickering in the evening. More moments that don’t require a screen.

Less decorating for the season, more living into it.

That’s what I’m craving this fall.
Now I just need to work on the playlist.

Sometimes you need to take a step back to see it all clearly.

This past week I sat in a room with 80+ people who care about the same things I do: the land, the plants that come out of it, and what tending both does to a person.

We talked about stewardship, about how a love of the planet shapes the way you build a business, and about the psychology underneath all of it (turns out the garden is doing more for my head than I gave it credit for, thank you @hafsalewis).

I drove home with a full heart and, for once, a clear head. There is more to share.

Thank you Shannon for asking me to be a part of this evening and everyone who came and stayed to talk after.

It all started with one cherry tomato plant. I’ve never had such a prolific tomato plant.

Fortunately, I found this recipe from @itscheffatty and I knew I had to try it. This is my seventh jar. I literally crave them now.

Brine:
2 cups rice wine vinegar
2 cups water
1 TBSP sugar
1 TBSP garlic salt

Fill a glass jar with ripe cherry tomatoes. Add peeled garlic and fresh basil. Pour the brine over, shake it, and leave it in the fridge overnight.

I’m starting to try a few more of his recipes after falling in love with this one. It’s sweet and tangy and sheer perfection.

Let me know if you see any other must have tomato recipes ‘cause I have a ton of heirlooms I’m about to harvest (don’t even ask about the amount of basil I still have).

Chad will never see this, he’s not on social media, so he can’t roll his eyes when I say this: These evening walks together are the best part of my day.

We built this house together as a family, every tile, every fixture, all of it. It’s these walks every night, chatting with the neighbors or laughing with the kids, that make it a home.

My little kitchen garden that I get lost in every morning and every evening checking to see what came up.

I had the privilege of finally meeting Indie Lee from @indie_lee skincare🩵✨She’s been supporting me since I started TikTok almost 5 years ago—and not just me, but my family too! Anytime I get a package from them, there are always four of everything so I can share with them. 🥹 The best part of this “job” has always been the people you meet, the connections you make, and the relationships that come from simply putting yourself out there. When I started creating content, I never imagined it would take me to places like this, surrounded by people I’ve looked up to for years. It’s pretty surreal to look back and see how far I’ve come.
