We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Indigo Dove’s fourth year of business than donating the first Care Cart to Mercy Hospital.

Although we wish there wasn’t a need for a cart like this, we are so proud to be able to create these for other families experiencing loss.

Sometimes pressed flowers are just too big to put into jewelry. These earrings were made using pieces of petals to create a bold, unique one of a kind style resembling confetti. 🎉

I have been pressing flowers for seven years and this was a first and it hit hard. I knew the day would come when I would be asked to preserve flowers from a precious baby’s memorial service. 🤍

It’s a day I have almost held my breath for- not in anticipation or dread but just waiting. Waiting for the full circle moment where I am directly in contact with a recently grieving family much in the same way my husband and I were almost ten years ago. People experiencing a whirlwind of emotions -grief, lost hopes and dreams of a dashed expectation of the joy a child brings, really just so many things.

My heart hurts for them in a way only bereaved parents can understand. We do have hope of seeing our children again in Heaven, but the hurt and scars remain.

I am so thankful. Honored. Grateful. All of these words don’t even begin to describe the feelings I have towards pressing these flowers for them. It’s the truest form of the mission behind Indigo Dove all wrapped up in one.

Buttons?! This was such a fun project! I loved collecting and creating the perfect “chocolates”! I mean the two different types of square buttons couldn’t be anymore perfect, right?!

Some of the boxes are vintage and the others were DIY-ed. Can you tell which ones?!

My neighbor’s lovely Morning Glories captured my attention this morning on my walk and God spoke quietly to my heart.

He whispered, “Melissa, open your eyes. Even in the heaviness, I am still working. There is still beauty. See that I am doing a new thing!”

So many people I know are going through challenging seasons, as well as we all have our personal private struggles on top of unrest and turmoil in society.

It’s very easy for me to get bogged down with carrying it all, but He reminded me that it isn’t mine to shoulder the load. Instead to rest in Him.

How long have we been sleeping? I encourage you to find beauty today, and renew your mind, and rest in His promises.
