So, people, this is happening Thursday NEXT WEEK. (I sang that, no shouting from me unless it’s to tell our cat, Neville, to stop sharpening his claws on the record cover spines.) Are you joining me for Euro hot chocolates and cosy writing and creative dreaming-in time, regardless of whether or not you have ever written before? If so, I need you to book in advance! An offer of winter writing time with me. Anyone can come along, even if you have no writing experience. No pressure. Nothing scary. Just a couple of hours of enjoyment in a warm, cosy cafe. Feel free to share this post 🙂

You are invited to a winter writing session in the warmth of Big Elma Café, Coburg, on
Thursday July 2, 10am-12pm.

I’ll lead you through a simple, fun writing exercise and offer guided space for conversation about your writing and what you’re dreaming into through the winter, followed by time for quiet writing together. Work on your own project or take up one of my writing prompts.

My books are Midnight Water (Picador), and Darkfall (UWAP). My work has recently appeared in the Guardian, the Monthly, and Meanjin. I taught creative writing at Deakin University for twenty years and now focus on my own practice. All levels of writing experience are welcome.

I have a regular practice of writing in public places, especially at my favourite cafés in Melbourne, and I’ve written in Istanbul, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Berlin, and Reykjavik.
