Performistanbul Misafir Sanatçı Programı'nda bugüne kadar ağırladığımız sanatçı, küratör ve araştırmacılar 🤍

2020 yılından bu yana, performans sanatına odaklanan ulusal ve uluslararası sanatçı, küratör ve araştırmacıları konuk etmeye devam ediyoruz. Programımız sanatçının ve içinden geçilen dönemin ihtiyaçlarına göre şekillenerek, kendi başına performatif bir sürece dönüşüyor.

2026 itibarıyla 10. yaşını dolduran Performistanbul'da misafir ettiğimiz 20 değerli sanatçının platfomumuza kattığı deneyim, bakış açısı ve enerji bizim için çok kıymetli. Çevrimiçi ve fiziksel süreçlerde üretimlerinde birlikte olduğumuz, sınırları birlikte esnettiğimiz tüm isimlere gönülden teşekkürler!

The artists, curators, and researchers we have hosted as part of the Performistanbul Residency Program 🤍

Since 2020, we have continued to welcome national and international artists, curators, and researchers working with a focus on performance art. Shaped according to the needs of each artist and the period they are going through, our program transforms into a performative process in its own right.

As Performistanbul celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026, we are deeply grateful for the experiences, perspectives, and energy that the 20 remarkable artists we have hosted have brought to our platform. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone with whom we have shared their artistic processes, both online and in person, and with whom we have explored and expanded boundaries together!

We continue to expand boundaries, research, and create together. 💫

Merhaba. Benim adım Indigo Perry. Melbourne, Avustralya’dan gelen bir yazar ve performans sanatçısıyım.

Sanatsal pratiğim kamusal alanlarda yazmayı içeriyor. Çalışmalarım, bir ömür boyu devam eden yas tutma sürecini odağına alıyor. Birçok farklı yas türünü kaleme alıyorum. Çalışmalarım kalbinde kendi yasım ile başlıyor, ancak kamusal alanda yazmak için dışarı çıktığımda, bazen başkalarını, kendileri için nasıl bir anlam taşıyorsa o doğrultuda, kendi yaslarıyla birlikte olmaları için bir an ayırmaya davet ediyorum.

Hello. My name is Indigo Perry. I am an author and performance artist from Melbourne, Australia.

My creative practice includes writing in public spaces. My work relates to the long durational work of mourning as it unfurls over a lifetime. I write about many different types of mourning. At its heart, my work begins with my own mourning, but when I go out to write in public, I sometimes invite others to take a moment to be with their own mourning, whatever that may mean to them. I am inviting you to come and write with me.

Indigo Perry, Melbourne/Naarm, Avustralya'da yaşayan bir yazar ve performans sanatçısıdır. En son kitabı Darkfall (University of Western Australia Publishing). İlk kitabı Midnight Water (Picador), Avustralya Ulusal Biyografi Ödülü için kısa listeye kalmıştır. Indigo, 2024 yılında Adelaide Festivali'nde Marina Abramović Institute Takeover'da görevlendirilen bir sanatçıydı ve “I will write you out of water” başlıklı uzun süreli performansını 4 gün, günde 6 saat boyunca sergiledi.

Indigo Perry is a writer and performance artist based in Melbourne/Naarm, Australia. Her most recent book is Darkfall (University of Western Australia Publishing). Her first book was Midnight Water (Picador), shortlisted for Australia's National Biography Award. In 2024, Indigo was a commissioned artist in the Marina Abramović Institute Takeover at Adelaide Festival, involving her long-durational performance titled” I will write you out of water”, for 4 days, 6 hours per day.

Adelaide Festival. Marina Abramović Institute: Takeover. March 1 to 4, 2024.

Profound. Provocative. Transformative. Chest heaving. Mind altering. For 12 hours, in laying witness to Mike Parr, I can’t help but feel privilege in experiencing this durational performance in real time. As Abramović says in a video loop “spend your time to connect and then you can go and come back you can go and come back”. I did so to see Mike, Melati and other performers during ‘Marina Abramović presents: Takeover” at the Adelaide Space theatre. The potential for the political to be curtailed was certainly shrugged off with the spellbinding and exhaustive performance by Parr. We all clapped at midnight when the performance ended, and he was led out. In some ways, it’s an honour to experience something and to grow from it. Learning never never stops. The human spirit and what it is capable of continues to manifest wonder. ### the whistle in the last video clip signalled the end of the 12 hour performance.

Partial statement on Parr piece: Portrait of Marina Abramović is a continuation of a series of blind painting performances, which Mike Parr started to create in 2019. Parr’s blindness is self-imposed with the artist performing with his eyes closed from the moment of entering to the moment of exiting the performance. He will never see the work. Blind painting is an attempt at nothingness and creation and toward an ending and rebirth.

'Indigo's Journal'

Dr Indigo Perry is a writer and artist, She has a rather beautiful ritual of writing in exquisite paper journals with a quill ink pen, sipping cups of tea from fine bone china in local cafes. Something about sitting in public spaces to write is an important part of her artistic process.

As I photographed @indigoperryauthor in this space her table framed the mountains, the wide vista in contrast to the intimacy of the poetic explorations of her writing. Intentionally, the only things in focus in this photograph are the edge of her leather-bound journal and the china tea cup unofficially reserved for her in this small unassuming cafe.

An independent artist, Indigo is also a Senior Lecturer in Writing & Literature in the School of Communication & Creative Arts at Deakin University (Melbourne Australia). She writes memoir in poetic, experimental forms. Her first book, Midnight Water (Picador) was shortlisted for Australia’s National Biography Award. Her second book, Darkfall (University of Western Australia Publishing) was released in 2020. Indigo also writes live in performance.
