There’s something special about chasing a big goal.
The pursuit gives you purpose.
You wake up every morning knowing exactly what you need to do, and that feels great.

For me, that goal was summiting Everest. I wanted it so badly.
It became my North Star 🧭.
Everything I did was moving me closer to that one moment and for 6 or so months everything in my life I planned around that.

But once I came home, very illl, I felt something I didn’t expect to be SO strange!
I kept asking myself, What’s next?

It is like a post-expedition hangover.
I felt lost without a big goal pulling me forward.
I stressed around about how to get strong again and what my next mountain should be or if it even should be a “next” mountain or maybe something completely different! And I still do!

Then I realized something important:

The best part was never the climb itself. It was a struggle, it was hard as fuck, I was ill like hell, a complete SHITSHOW- the worlds highest shitshow though 🤣
The best part was everything that led me there. The training, the learning, the discipline, the adventure. THE CHASE ITSELF!

Maybe the real goal isn’t a summit at all.

Maybe the goal is to enjoy becoming better at what you love.
If you’re a dentist, it’s becoming a better dentist.
If you’re a mountaineer, it’s becoming a better mountaineer.
If you’re a skier, it’s becoming a better skier.

The point isn’t arriving—it’s GROWING!

That’s what makes high performers happy. They don’t love improving because they want to be the best. They love improving because they enjoy getting a little better every day.
If your happiness depends on reaching the next summit, you’ll always need another one.
Once you stop chasing one final destination, you realize that the journey is the destination.
And that’s a much more rewarding way to live. #mindfulness #growth #mountaineer #everest #shitshow by @ines.fry

~ REGRET ~ OR NOT ~
Every choice you make means giving up other possible lives you could have lived.

You choose one person, one job, one path—and all the other possibilities disappear. That’s totally fine until you see it through the lens of the EGO!
The ego is always comparing and wondering “What if?” And it will eventually find reasons to regret almost any choice.

But is there another way to look at life and life’s decisions?

What if every experience—good or bad—is exactly what you need to grow and wake up to who you really are?

From this perspective, life is not a test where you must make the perfect choice. It is a journey of learning and awakening.
Every success, failure, heartbreak, mistake, and triumph becomes part of your education.

When you see life through the eyes of the EGO, pain feels like proof that something went wrong.

When you see life through the eyes of the SOUL, pain becomes a teacher.

This does not mean pain is enjoyable or that you should seek it out.
But when suffering arrives, you can ask: “What is this trying to show me? What can I learn from this?”
Often, our deepest pain reveals our deepest truth.
Like water slowly wearing down a stone, life’s difficulties gradually break down the walls of fear, pride, and illusion that cover our hearts.
As those walls fall away, wisdom grows.
From this viewpoint, there is no “wrong” path, no “wrong” decision.
Every path teaches something important. Every choice becomes part of the journey home to yourself.

The goal is not to make the perfect decision that guarantees comfort and happiness.

The goal is to trust life, be true to yourself, and learn from whatever happens next.

Then REGRET begins to lose its power.

You realize that the “right” choice is not the one that totally avoids pain.
The right choice is simply the one you make with sincerity, because whatever follows will help you become more fully who you are.

In the end, every road teaches, every experience shapes you, and every step—whether joyful or painful—can bring you closer to understanding your true nature! #mindfulness #mountainphilosophy #shitshow #everest taken in Mount Everest Sagarmāthā सगरमाथा ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ 珠穆朗玛峰 by @ines.fry

This summit wasn’t meant for me:

Out there, there are so many egos and so much competition.
I don’t really care about that, I never did.
When I’m out in the mountains, I’m there for me and ME ONLY!

At any time in this one precious life, you have to accept that things can go wrong.
Especially on a mountain like Mt. Everest, you have to overcome so many fears and doubts - fear for yourself, but also concern for the people back home who worry about you.

During the waiting period, before summit-push, it’s essential to stay in a good mental, emotional, and most of all physical state, and to let go of unnecessary pressure and expectations.

This wasn’t for me: I got ill after being on the trek from Namche-bazaar to EBC after only 3 days.
What started as a sinus-infection ended in a bad bronchitis and finally the Khumbu-cough. I had to take two different types of antibiotics and still didn’t recover.

Nevertheless, I would hear that little voice blowing into my ear, “strive and go.”
Even in the most extremely difficult moments, when I was hungry, frozen and sick, I heard it say “try to fight, you have to try to get there . . .”
And so I did… physically feeling SO bad, I left this tent at camp 4 (7900m) and started to walk towards the top of the world - for about an hour - to overcome fear and to see once again how far my body could take me.

It was at exactly 8000m, when this little voice inside of me turned into a warning and went like „stop doing this, you’ll gonna get injured“. And so I did!
The universe gave you a compass.
Not in your pocket.
But in your chest!
Long ago, I decided to listen to that.

Looking back at Lhotse-face on the way down, I didn’t know how in the world I even made it up there…

What matters now?

So what’s next? I don’t know.
I guess I still have goals, maybe they’re not as big as this one, maybe even bigger in terms of difficulty and challenge, who knows and how would you even measure?

My love, my passion for movement and mountains is still here, probably forever, hopefully also without needing a specific goal to drive me, but for now I’ll just give my body and mind the rest that it deserves- no matter how long this will take. taken in Mount Everest Sagarmāthā सगरमाथा ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ 珠穆朗玛峰 by @ines.fry

Loads of days/ weeks/ months of bloody hard training went by really fast. Now it finally comes to the so called “tapering”: a phase where training intensity is reduced, and sleep/ rest and body-fueling increases! This phase increases glycogen stores, repairs muscle micro tears, reduces physiological stress and boosts immune function. It also increases red blood cell production and total blood volume! #hypoxia #everest2026 #mountains #doitforyourownreasons taken in Mother Earth by @ines.fry

HAVE THE COURAGE TO LIVE YOUR DREAMS

In just a few weeks, my biggest adventure yet will begin.

When I set out last year for my second expedition to Ama Dablam, mentally being in a state of maximum discomfort, I never imagined that it would lead to something even greater. During that time, @furtenbachadventures approached me with a question that immediately made my heart race: Would I be interested in climbing Mount Everest? Of course I would ❣️

But this new project was about far more than “just another mountain.” It meant becoming the main protagonist of a 90-minute documentary — a story about preparation, mental strength, doubt, resilience, commitment and the pursuit of standing on the highest point on Earth, with my feet touching the ground. And all of it compressed into an incredibly intense timeframe of just 10 to 14 days out.

Of course, I couldn’t say no. The opportunity was simply too extraordinary, too unique to turn down.

Since then, the weeks have been filled with relentless training — long endurance sessions, demanding strength workouts, and focused mental preparation. Every single day pushes me further, challenges me deeper, and brings me one step closer to this dream.

Very soon, I will once again be sleeping in my familiar hypoxic tent. Reduced oxygen levels will become part of my daily routine, preparing my body for the extreme conditions at high altitude. It’s not always comfortable, but it carries a special kind of anticipation — a reminder that something truly extraordinary lies ahead.
For me Everest, tschomolungma- mother of the universe- is more than a mountain. It is a dream, a challenge, and the next chapter of my personal journey. Many thanks to my friends helping me with workouts and understanding my lack of time, to my mum @veronikastaubachfry - for giving life to me, making things happen and the greatest support ever for my entire life 🥹, my great team at work (@melli_rieser @bruggersteffi @nadjakrautgasser ) for keeping unnecessary sh** away from me and for organizing my life 😅🦷🪥and last but not least @lukasfurtenbach for asking me to do this #furtenbachadventures #sherpapower #altitude #mountaingirls #hypoxia taken in Mount Everest, Himalayas by @ines.fry

After every journey, I become someone new.

Don’t collect souvenirs — collect horizons.
In remote countries, far from the familiar, I meet new people with unfamiliar languages but instantly familiar smiles.
Every encounter opens a door; every shared story leaves a quiet imprint on my heart.

Out in the wild, everything becomes clearer. When there’s no cellphone service, no notifications, no constant noise, no to-do lists- something sacred begins: true serenity. Finding connection — to nature, to others, to myself.

I witness stunning landscapes that are bigger than any worry.
Mountains standing like silent but powerful guardians above the valleys.
Endless summits glowing gold in the evening light. Woods where the wind whispers ancient stories.
In that vastness, I don’t lose myself — I find myself.

Each journey reshapes my perspective.
I learn to walk slower. To breathe deeper. To listen more carefully. To live more fully. And when I return home, I am no longer exactly the person who left.

After every journey, I am someone new —
a little braver, a little calmer, a little wiser
and endlessly grateful.

There are two types of mountaineers,
Same summit but completely different reasons…

Some climb with advantages:
the best gear, the best conditions the wind at their backs… Good for them...
But that is not everyone’s story.

Others climb with stitched-up souls, with the past on their shoulders and fear biting at their heels.
And yet they climb…

The ground betrayed us so many times
that climbing was the only way to not fall again.
What we carry is not gear
It’s memory…Scars…Names that are gone (or should be).. days that almost killed us inside.
… And still we keep moving.

There are no pretty photos of the process.
No applause
No „you’re so strong“
There is pain turned into fuel, anger turned into armor and a heart that refuses to stay buried.

We don’t only climb for fun,
We also climb because staying down is like dying while alive…

The mountain does not respect status, last names or bank accounts.
It respects only this:
YOU DID NOT QUIT!

If you’re still climbing even in pieces...
That summit belongs to you!
Not as a dream but as justice!

Your ascent is not only an adventure
It’s your revenge, your rebirth.
It’s your declaration to stand up again.

You are made to climb these mountains! #amadablam #gonnabeafilmstar #everest2026 #ghostingisforcowards #hypoxia by @ines.fry

♾️Let the mountain do for me what I couldn’t do for myself♾️

Imagine being so damn privileged to go to the same remote mountain which you declare as the most beautiful on earth… TWICE…
As so many asked, why I did something so hard twice, I’ll try to explain…
Earlier this year this BOY I thought I was truly falling in love with, fucking dumped me for the most ridiculous reasons you could ever think of.
All I needed was honest communication… he never gave me that chance… and probably never will…

The totality of everything kind of crashed into me.
I knew I tasted something ❗️APPEARING ❗️to be so sweet…it wasn’t there anymore… from one second to the other… out of nothing… for no obvious reason…
As I sat in the place of maximum discomfort for a very long time, my closest friends and family suggested me going back to Nepal, to finally find some peace in mind, doing what I love most!

Quite sceptical, I decided to give it a try and went back to see and climb the beautiful Ama Dablam.
As the first days were mentally really hard, all of a sudden it went click and my tears of despair and grief turned into tears of HAPPINESS and JOY - also with the surrounding and reinforcement of great friends- old ones and new ones.
The Khumbu-valley, with all it’s stunning views, it’s beautiful peaks and the kindness of the people is the most nourishing and healingfull place on earth (for me)! THANK YOU! 🏔️🌄🧗‍♀️❄️. #amadablam #youremorethanenough #yourlightisasbrightasthestarsabove #everest2026 #himalayas #mountaineering #alpinism #mountaingirl #greatopportunitiescomearoundonceinalifetime #roadtoeverest #gonnabeamoviestar #ghostingisforcowards #youaretoxicboy#gaslightingisfortheweak taken in Ama Dablam by @ines.fry
