Interview #122: Black Metal From Brazil by Patricia

I spoke with two of the four men who were arrested at a cemetery in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, Brazil. They were accused of taking human remains from the site, and a photo of them went viral online. In the interview, we talk about how the events unfolded and the consequences they’ve faced since.

⚠️ This interview is for informational and journalistic purposes only. We do not support, encourage, or condone desecrating graves or any illegal activity. Cemeteries are places of rest and deserve respect.

So, if you're interested, check out the interview on YouTube through the link!"

Every scene has its known centers, the cities and countries where black metal is written into the history books. But this music has never stayed politely inside its borders. It travels through tape trading, forums, encrypted links, small labels, and word of mouth. Sooner or later it lands somewhere unexpected and takes root in a way no one predicted.

Today's conversation comes from one of those places.

Our guests are Sapientia ov Atlantis @sapientiaovatlantis , a black metal band from Colombo, in Sri Lanka's Western Province. Their name alone tells you they are not interested in the usual vocabulary of the genre. "Sapientia" is the Latin word for wisdom. "Atlantis" is the sunken civilization that has haunted human imagination for more than two thousand years. Together they suggest knowledge that was lost, drowned, and perhaps waiting to be recovered by those willing to descend.

In this episode, our guest host Patrícia (@p.lateralus9), a Brazilian psychologist, digital creator and lifelong extreme metal fan, sits down with Morningstvr, @vocalsofforodwaithofficial the one-man force behind cold synths, malevolent drums and winterous screams in the realm of Medieval Atmospheric Black Metal.

Since his 2022 debut The New Salem, Morningstvr has built a catalog steeped in dark winters, vampyric horrors, witchcraft, medieval history and legends of autumnal pasts. Through In Memoriam of the Blvck Wind (2024), A Fate Engraved (2025) and a run of splits and EPs, the project has moved toward a bigger, synth-driven sound touched by funeral doom, blackgaze and dungeon synth. After the A Fate Engraved tour in summer 2025, Morningstvr formed a full live band for the first time, opening a new era.

Now comes the fourth studio album, Under the Shadow of a Transylvanian Moon, arriving October 28th, 2026.

Patrícia brings her psychology background and genuine curiosity to the conversation, exploring the creative process, artistic vision, influences and personal experiences behind the music.
