What does ‘musical surrealism’ mean to you? I was recently asked to describe the music on my new record, ‘Times Undoing & Progress,’ and I said it sounds a little like cracking open an egg and finding a flower inside that blossoms into a miniature teapot. To me, it’s just as much about the imagery as it is about the motion and evolution of the sounds… their inner lives, their journeys, the moments they appear, collide, separate and go different directions, dissolve into… what? It feels irrational, playful, bizarre, severe, fragile, cartoonish, nostalgic and all at once. The 2nd single ‘Holding Memories Long Before’ is now available to stream, and pre-orders for the double LP + CD are available from my Bandcamp page (link in bio). Comment ‘Holding’ for the link to the full music video for this track! #electroacoustic #experimentalmusic #sounddesign #electronicmusic by @infrequent_seams
One of the best parts of creating Times Undoing & Progress was getting to work with the most thoughtful, creative, wonderful friends and musicians, each of whom brought their own unique voice and delightfully strange sounds to the project. This album was a HUGE undertaking, and I'm so grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life. ❤️ A little introduction to some of the amazing people involved (swipe to meet them!): @juliaholter contributes incredible vocals, moving between delicate, intimate melodies and wild, otherworldly vocal textures @theothertimfeeney plays allllll the duck calls, train whistles, planks of wood, giant metal coils, and brings so much energy and humor to this music @gastonsounds contributes an incredible array of skronks, plops, whooshes, and other electronic and daxophone sounds @vinnygolia brings an amazing collection of woodwinds to the project, from piccolo to contrabass quarter-tone flute to bass saxophone -- along with his signature honks, growls, + flurries @jcscheid plays all the wild, woozy, chaotic flute parts (so beautifully!) and is a true master of the kazoo @ben_fin and @ixeen_ round out the vocal chorus with playful hockets, gasps, bellows, warbles, + powerful storytelling I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with such imaginative, adventurous, and generous collaborators. This music wouldn't be what it is without them. You can listen to the 1st single on my Bandcamp page now (link in bio); and pre-order the double LP / double CD :) Thank you for listening ❤️ by @infrequent_seams

Excited to announce a project that's been years in the making: “The Travel Agency Is On Fire” features Anne Waldman and Thurston Moore reading Cut-Up texts by William Burroughs. This hand-assembled 4-CD box set comes out on Infrequent Seams on September 25, 2026. Researched and compiled by Alex Wermer-Colan, the texts were published in 2015 through CUNY Graduate Center's Lost & Found. James Ilgenfritz cut up and collaged Moore's and Waldman's readings, combining them with music performed by a host of New York-based improvisers: Daniel Carter, AC Diamond, James Ilgenfritz, Kerosene Jones, M Lamar, Ras Moshe, Devin Waldman, Brian Chase, David First, Michael Foster, Pauline Kim Harris, Robbie Lee, Zeena Parkins, Elliott Sharp, and William Winant. #linkinbio #williamburroughs #burroughs #annewaldman #thurstonmoore #cut-up by @infrequent_seams
