I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I’ve talked to you. I have so much to tell you.

There are things you are unable to see value in until you’re looking back. From this side of things, I can see the incredible gift it was that the Lord gave me all those years to love you in MY home. To walk with you through the illness and death of your husband- my dad- will remain one of the most difficult and emotional, but PRECIOUS times in my life. The five years you had afterwards were important ones, for you and for me. I’m grateful for that time. It was not easy, you were a tough cookie (but, you always HAD TO BE, I understand that so much more clearly now). God was so gracious and kind to have given us ALL the gift of Lindsay to lighten things up every day- I owe a debt of gratitude to her!
That last year or so were certainly hard- on both of us, but looking back I can see the valuable lessons God was teaching me. So many mind shifts and realignments took place during that difficult season of growth.
The main thing I now know for sure: living life with “eternity’s value in view” is the only way to push through life here on earth. The good, the bad and the ugly ALL change when you keep an eternal perspective and try to live in a way that brings glory to God.
I can’t believe how much I miss having my mom here on earth. There are so many things you are missing out on…. But you’re not missing a thing, are you?!

I never want to forget this magical age. God has been so so good to us. 💙 Shepherd, you were made in God’s image, He has good, good plans for you. My prayer is that you’ll seek Him and follow him all of your days. by @ingerluff

The greatest thing that’s ever happened in Lindsay’s life is becoming “a real auntie”💙 She refers to Shepherd as “my sweet baby boy” most of the time, occasionally it’s “Sheppy” too. She talks about him first thing in the morning, and everything that happens in the day SOMEHOW relates back to him… “you know who would wuv eating here with us? my sweet baby boy” I can’t wait to go back to Texas, you know who we can bring next time? “my widdle nephew”
It’s the purest and most sincere love.
My prayer is that God would kindly give Shepherd that same love back for Lindsay.

So grateful to have been at the top of one persons prayer list for most of my life. I sure could have used those prayers over these last 4 years, but I’m sure you’re in God’s ear! I’m so thankful to have had you as my mom.
There are so many things I wish I could talk to you about or ask you. 4 years seems so long ago and so yesterday.
Lindsay talks about you (and Dad) every day. You stored up precious memories in her heart.

Lindsay is all about family.
She loves so deeply and it’s so pure.
She can be a little much at times😂 but I’m so blessed to say that all of her 9 cousins love her right back in the most patient and loving way.
To say I’m grateful is not a strong enough sentiment.
We are so very very thankful and blessed.

Happy Father’s Day to this good, good man. I’ve had a front row seat to the faithful and fervent prayers for these three, the years of guidance, the acts of love and devotion, the tears he’s shed over them and pride he has had in the incredible women they have grown to be. Blessed, indeed are these little ladies to have been loved and cherished by this precious, godly man.
