Wonderful to see Ingrid Morley’s work installed in the newly opened Sculpture Courtyard at Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre.

Curated alongside four other female artists, Jane Barrow, Kate Bohunnis, Marlene Houston and Kara Wood, her work was selected from a pool of 22 candidates. A wonderful achievement for Ingrid and a brilliant addition to Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre.

A former ‘dead space’ brought to life by the following installations; “The Past is Just Behind I” newly installed alongside the work of Marlene Houston @marlyhart, Kara Wood @karawoodart (LHS) and Kate Bohunnis’s wallwork @kate_bohunnis in the background. Jane Barrow’s @janebarrowceramics work is yet to be permanently installed in this reimagined courtyard curated by Tobias Spitzer and the Team at Singleton Arts and Cultural Centre.

A big thank you to @defiancegallery for their ongoing support and commitment to my work and to the foresight and imagination of the Singleton Curatorial team!

Ingrid Morley’s sculpture is a curious mix of the primal, playful and sensuous, growing out of her South African childhood, the study of veterinary science in London and her love of Australian landscapes.

Living on the land; her home is surrounded by the skeletons of heavy machinery, which she dissects and reforms into her sculptures.

Morley has exhibited extensively over the past 25 years and been a finalist in numerous awards, including the Alice Prize (2020), Western Sydney University Sculpture Award (2021), Muswellbrook Art Prize (2020), North Sydney Art Prize (2019), and was was the recipient of the highly coveted Sculpture for Clyde award in 2024.

Her work is held in prominent collections including the Nock Art Foundation, HK, China, Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, Oppenheimer Collection, South Africa and the Mid-Western Regional Council’s Public Art Collection, Mudgee as well as private collections in Australia and internationally.

50 YEARS at the Tom Bass Sculpture Studio School celebrates half a century of the School from 1974 – 2024.

Curated by Wendy Black, the exhibition features sculptures by founder, the late Tom Bass AM, as well as sculptures from Alumni, students and teachers from their 50 year history.

A showcase of creativity and tradition as well as a celebration of the future of sculpture, the exhibition also includes work by Defiance artists Lea Ferris and Ingrid Morley.

50 Years continues until 13 July at TBSSS in Erskineville.

Open Mon 8 July - Fri 12 July, 10–2pm and Sat 13 July, 10–4pm.

I have been in Batemans Bay for the Sculpture for Clyde @sculptureforclyde event running until Sunday June 2, 2024 along the gorgeous foreshore of the bay. The sculpture install and curation very well managed by a team of well informed volunteers headed up by David Maclachlan.
.
The opening party had such a warm inclusive vibe and took off with a heartfelt welcome to Walbanga country by Aunty Loretta Parsely. The judges Dr Amanda Stuart, Councillor Shultz and David Maclachlan selected the following artists for awards:
