$30,000 SIG & MID-WESTERN REGIONAL COUNCIL ACQUISITION PRIZE

More than a prize.
A permanent public legacy.

The Sculptures in the Garden & Mid-Western Regional Council Acquisition Prize is the largest award at SIG — supporting artists while growing the region’s public art collection for future generations.

Unlike many sculpture prizes where works disappear into private collections, the SIG & MWRC prize ensures the winning sculpture becomes part of the public landscape — accessible for the whole community to experience and enjoy.

This is what makes Sculptures in the Garden unique.

SIG exists to:
– Support artists
– Create public art
– Leave a lasting cultural legacy
– Connect regional communities with sculpture

2025 major prize winner, Vlasé Nikoleski, shared:
“SIG provides invaluable opportunity for artists to showcase their work and to provide them with a venue for discourse. I regard SIG as a most valuable event for all and congratulate the organisers for this.”

For more than a decade, Vlasé has exhibited at SIG, contributing to the extraordinary artistic dialogue that continues to shape the exhibition and the wider region.

Applications for Sculptures in the Garden 2026 are now open.

Supporting artists. Creating public art.

MAJOR PRIZE ARTWORKS:
Keeper by Ingrid Morley
Inland Jetty by Vlasé Nikoleski
Tribal Totems by Stephen Hogan
Turbosphere by Jim Cross
Taking the Plunge by Stephen Irwin
Gathering by Simon Pankhurst
Ahead by Harrie Fasher

From a small regional exhibition to one of Australia’s most loved outdoor sculpture events.

Over the past 15 years, Sculptures in the Garden has welcomed:
– 40,000+ visitors through the gates
– 600+ artists from across Australia
– 47 sculptures acquired into regional public art collections … can you spot them all throughout the Mid-Western Region?

What began as a modest two-day exhibition in the Rosby homestead garden has grown into a major regional arts event — all thanks to the artists, collectors, volunteers, sponsors, and community who continue to support it year after year.

Will you be joining us for SIG26?

Wonderful to see Ingrid Morley’s work installed in the newly opened Sculpture Courtyard at Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre.
@singletonartsandculturalcentre

Curated alongside four other female artists, Jane Barrow, Kate Bohunnis, Marlene Houston and Kara Wood, her work was selected from a pool of 22 candidates. A wonderful achievement for Ingrid and a brilliant addition to Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre.

Love seeing our regional galleries thrive and prosper!

Thanks to Tobias Spitzer and team for their curation.

At 10am, we invite everyone to join Isabelle in practicing Xingyiquan, literally “the boxing of form and intention” today at 10 am, as part of her artistic intervention.

It is an internal Chinese martial art that teaches how to unite intention (Yi) and bodily movement (Xing) to generate a direct, simple, and effective power. Its techniques are based on the Five Elements. Isabelle proposes to try the Fire Element. Join us at #6 outdoor sculpture.

At Midday, join us for a Panel Discussion led by Gudula Dornseifer with Finalists Akira Kamada, Ingrid Morley, James Rogers & Greer Taylor at The HUB

What a fabulous opening weekend of Sculpture in the Valley 2025!

Great crowds, superb weather, and an impressive display of such diverse creativity by artists from all over Australia.

Richard Morecroft officially opened the event on Saturday morning, and our judges Suzie Bleach and Andrew Townsend awarded the 2025 Prizes to the following artists:

OUTDOOR WINNER – Ingrid Morley
OUTDOOR HIGHLY COMMENDED – Stephen Harrison
OUTDOOR COMMENDED – Michael Purdy
EMERGING ARTIST PRIZE – Isabelle Bribosia
INDOOR WINNER – James Rogers
INDOOR HIGHLY COMMENDED – Anita Johnson
WOLLOMBI SCULPTURE FESTIVAL PRIZE – Stephen Harrison

All artists deserve recognition for the efforts they go to, not only in the creation of the work, but in the transporting and installation of their sculptures for this event.

David Ball has done an amazing job as Curator in the selection and careful placement of the works throughout the property.

Kangaroo Valley is very fortunate to have an event like this and it would not be possible without the incredibly team of volunteers - THANKYOU!

The exhibition continues throughout next weekend (22-23 Nov) including our special twilight hours on the Sat 22 until 8pm! Bring a picnic or purchase a picnic box from our on-site café.

Don’t miss it! Last chance to view these amazing works.
