Hello prelims my old friend, we meet again.

This time, I did not come anxious, stuttering, shaking, I approached you confidently, spoke boldly and showed the world that there’s a woman inside me who is worthy of the Miss Universe Nigeria crown.

The universe listens, but first you need to show up and speak. I have done so with shoulders held high, now I calmly ask the universe, what is it going to be?

Thank you all so much for the plenty congratulations, they’ve been coming for over 5 days now I believe and it warms my heart that you all took part in my celebration ❤️

I might play a lot and try to make things lighter than they seem but going from not even feeling the need to attend my convocation to now being so loud about it weeks later feels like a nudge in my spirit that I think can only be God.

To think that I moved to Lagos at 21, fresh out of university, no family in Lagos, no prospects for a job or even sure accommodation plans, just a glimmer of hope that all will be well, to now graduating from the University of Lagos with a masters degree.
Through different seasons, God has held steadfast to his promise that wherever the sole of my feet shall touch, he will give to me for my possession. I have found favor before God and man, but most importantly I have done exceedingly more than I even dreamed or imagined on that bus ride from Warri to Lagos in July 2021 through Christ who has strengthened me.

Wherever the road goes from here, I’m confident that the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want and that surely, God’s goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days of my life❤️

Some days ago marked what I somehow spent the whole day refusing to acknowledge is one year since my brother, Prince, passed.

I remembered so vividly getting that call a little after 5AM letting me know of what had happened. I live alone, the time between that call and when I could finally get through to anyone to come be with me was the most raw that I ever felt the grief.
It felt like my chest was too tight for my heart, grief filled it until it felt like it would burst and I wailed the whole day, and everyday after that for like the first month. On some days, it feels like time has healed the wound, but then the grief is always by side when I think about it, not as heavy, but still a reminder.

I remember praying to even see him in my dream. I dreamt about a lot of silly things last year, I even dreamt about people I’ve not seen since secondary school, but I’ve not dreamt of my sweet boy till date. Very elusive boy.

I remember making a video about two or three days to when Prince passed, explaining how I finally felt ease enough to cook for myself because from all indications he was getting better and I was so happy to hear that.
I still feel silly for thinking I could breathe easy then, not knowing I would hold my breathe some more for months after he passed, hoping it was a prank or something and everyone in my home back in Bayelsa were joking with me.

I’m not making this post for sympathy, never that. I might hate the reminder that Prince isn’t here anymore but who will tell the world he was here, lively, funny, bubbly and most importantly, that he is my brother.

There’s many more years for me on earth(by God’s grace), and I find myself sighing every time I realize there’s no more Prince from here on out, there hasn’t been for a while.
So painful as it is, I’ll always do my best to honor his memory.
