15 tahun lalu, sebuah email mendarat di inboxku dari mas @liem_hing_kik , menanyakan apakah aku mau menggambari cerita yang ditulis oleh Ibu @reda.gaudiamo. Aku yang hampir setiap harinya bekerja sambil mendengarkan Dua Ibu, tentu langsung bilang iya. 😆

Singkat cerita, aku langsung jatuh cinta dengan Na Willa sejak pertama membacanya di Kedai Tjikini. Setelah berlembar-lembar sketsa Willa, Mak, Pak, Dul, Ida, Ayam Kuning Kecil Sekali dan semua karakternya, buku pertama Na Willa diterbitkan oleh Aikon.

Tahun-tahun berikutnya, tiba-tiba saja sudah bekerja dengan @post_santa , tiba-tiba sudah ada Na Willa dan Rumah Dalam Gang, tiba-tiba sudah ada Na Piga, Ma Migu, dan Dulu Kelabu. 😊

Tadi sore, akhirnya nonton Na Willa yang diadaptasi (atau mungkin lebih tepatnya diadopsi ❤️) oleh @adriandhy . Baru 30 menit pertama, udah banyak adegan yang blur karena mata berkaca-kaca 🥹🥹. Sisanya kutulis di slide aja ya, karena bakal panjang banget kalo ditulis semua di sini 😆

Terima kasih banyak @adriandhy @noviapuspasari @anggiakharisma @waisanty dan seluruh tim @visinemaid , sudah mengajakku terlibat dalam film ini (walopun kontribusi cilik, tapi bangga sekaliiii)

Tahun keempat berkesempatan bikin ilustrasi buat @karya_rayakan , dengan tema Garden of Kindness: Creativity Grows on You. Setiap kebaikan, setiap karya, setiap ide akan menjadi pupuk untuk menumbuhkan dunia yang lebih baik.

Lalu seperti biasa, harus menyelipkan easter eggs di ilustrasinya 😆. Spill beberapa aja di sini, sisanya biar pada nyari sendiri hehehehe.

Thank you @astridanggawirya , @ernestjw dan @nitamelia yang belum muak (apa sebenernya udah 😂😂😂) menghadapiku yang banyak mau dan layer photoshopnya berantakan banget 🤣🤣

Lately, it feels like Mother Nature has been giving us a strong nudge. Our world is crumbling, and once again, we are reminded that we are just a tiny (and rather pompous) speck of dust.
Maybe this is how it feels to be a little creature living in human world. We flick ants away, crush spiders, shoo geckos, and kick stray dogs simply because we decide they don’t belong in our space.

I was once hired to design a booklet for a Bali villa, which included warnings about the many critters guests might encounter around the property. It made me wonder how often visitors had complained about them. Yet, whether we like it or not, these small (ok, sometimes inconvenient 😂) creatures are part of the Bali life.

"Also Bali", exhibited at @curativebali, is my personal reflection on the quieter side of the island. Ceremonies, gestures, routines, and ordinary moments that unfold alongside creatures we barely notice.
By placing them side by side, this series reflects on how our lives move alongside nature, how they mirror one another, and how these unnoticed details are just as much a part of Bali as the things we choose to celebrate and showcase.

“Also Bali” looks at the quieter side of the island, where everyday human moments unfold alongside the small lives we often overlook. Ceremonies, gestures, and daily routines take place in the presence of these seemingly insignificant creatures that quietly share the same space with us. By placing them side by side, this series reflects how our lives move in parallel with nature, how they often mirror one another, and how these unnoticed details are just as much a part of Bali as the things we celebrate and showcase.

This mini exhibition is titled “Also Bali”, featuring a series of illustrations depicting literally mini creatures inhabiting this island. “Also Bali” is a quiet observation and personal reflection on how some things become the face of Bali while others, no less important, are easily overlooked.

Na Willa dan rok biru sudah tiba! 💙 Sabtu 1 Agustus akan jadi hari yang istimewa baginya, bagi Reda, bagi Cecil, bagi kami, dan semoga demikian juga halnya untuk teman-teman yang sudah menemaninya sejak kecil hingga sekarang — saat ia memulai babak baru dalam perjalanannya. Ini hari pertama ia masuk SMP, semoga seperti halnya bagi kami, perjalanannya ini juga berkesan untuk teman-teman semua. Selamat membaca, teman-teman, sebentar lagi. by @inicecil
