Having a couple of "off" weeks. Still reading steadily, just not posting much. Life is a lot, and I'm not measuring up at the moment.
I've finished two books in Oct so far
The Frozen River,Ariel Lawhon & Nothing to See Here, Kevin Wilson - both were audiobooks and I really enjoyed both❤️📚

Currently almost 50% through Empire of the Vampire and LOVE IT. SO beautifully written. Already know at least two of my kids will be getting copies for Christmas 🎄 by @inkdrinkersguild

Stop ranting about " protecting your daughters".

Educate your sons.

Create a world where there aren't fraternity text groups advertising drugged young women, gang rapes and more concern for the "futures and reputations" of young men carrying on through life as rapists.

Hold men accountable.
Raise young men that would report that text. by @inkdrinkersguild

I really enjoyed Fallow. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narration was absolutely great. The story itself was clever and original as well as . The narrator really nailed selling each character and I will definitely be looking for more from her work as well as the author.
Characters were believable, dialogue between them was as well. The main character Natalie is working a job she dislikes, lacking dental insurance when it becomes apparent her wisdom teeth need to come out. She also doesn't particularly like working in general - so turns to plasma donation to afford her dental work. There, she is offered a different sort of job in an experimental corporate program as a long term gestational surrogate making six figures and a life of leisure, enabling working women to not require maternity leave. This is a long-term position, with a contract - Natalie becomes part of the benefits package for The Company. Of course everything doesn't go completely to plan for Natalie in her new position.
The fact that the current state of both Healthcare and women in the workforce in the United States assists in making this story almost plausible is sort of sad for us, but great for the story. This was a fun listen :)

I love Catherine Newman books. I'd like to write more right now, but tears are still leaking from my eyes.

I would have cried either way, because Catherine's characters and plots are so easy to identify with, so beautifully relatable, flawed and real - but I also just lost my mom, and it was painful and traumatic in a completely different way than Ash and Edi's story, and I wish we'd had an ending like this.
You know what *they* say - We All Want Impossible Things.

How Catherine Newman fits so much life, feeling and emotion into such compact stories is a gift. She definitely knows her audience, and I love her for it.

Note : You will see lots of 5⭐ here because Im incredibly picky about spending my time reading books I'm pretty sure I'll love, and I DNF anything I'm not getting something from. So, know that I don't "just hand out 5s" to every book - I just disnegage and don't mention it if it's not for me, if it's less than I hoped. And the only requirement for a 5 for me, is that I loved the book.
Im not much of a critic, but I love to share what I love 💕

Feel like all I did all weekend was drive, so audiobooks were a must. Havent read a thriller in awhile, so this was a fun change. Both books had me hooked enough to pop in the earbuds at home instead of waiting for the car, so there's that.
Tarryn Fisher has a crazy imagination🤣
Both good books - The Wives is my favorite of the two. by @inkdrinkersguild
