Broward County Public Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from Oct. 12-16 with student activities, contests and prizes aimed at highlighting the importance of nutritious school meals.

This year's theme, “Cafeteria Circus,” will feature a student poster contest, a raffle offering gift cards and visits from civic leaders, School Board members and district administrators who will join students for lunch.

Students participating in the poster contest can submit artwork inspired by the theme. Winning entries will be recognized and displayed at the district level, with the grand-prize winner receiving an iPad. by @insidehollyweird

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier says his office will investigate technology contracts involving Broward County Public Schools, raising further questions about the district’s procurement practices. The announcement comes amid scrutiny of a major laptop procurement process.

According to CBS Miami, the district’s inspector general investigated allegations that staff failed to follow proper procedures in selecting a vendor for 80,000 student laptops and related storage and distribution services.

Superintendent Howard Hepburn has said he plans to recommend terminating two staff members following that investigation. The state investigation’s scope and findings will be important in determining whether additional accountability measures are warranted.

We’ve been documenting these signs popping up around Hollywood’s parks and neighborhoods as Florida’s property-tax debate continues.

Harry Berry Park is back in the spotlight. 👀🌴

After a Hollywood City Commission meeting that lasted until nearly 4 AM, the conversation about development along Hollywood Beach is far from over.

On October 7, commissioners approved the Hollywood Beach Overlay District in a 5–2 vote.

Now, attention turns to Harry Berry Park and 1301 South Ocean Drive.
