🚨Breaking News: the world is on fire but I do not have to succumb to the smoke. I can find balance between fighting f@$Ā¢!$+, unjust and violent systems and taking time to breathe in the beauty that still exists in the world. I believe if I focus on all that’s bad I contribute to erasing what’s good. Balancing things we weren’t built to process…. yeah idk but I’m finding my way. by @instakam3

🚨 New Episode Alert 🚨June 5th was HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day. In honor of this day, we’re releasing Episode 6. Bio has the link to watch the full video.

In this emotional and eye-opening episode, we follow the powerful true story of @instakam3 a college student at the time, navigating one of the most challenging chapters of her life. What starts as a mysterious illness quickly unravels into something much deeper. Unaware that she’s HIV positive, she becomes pregnant and makes the difficult decision to hide her pregnancy from her family, intending to have an abortion. But life had other plans.

Through moments of fear, silence, strength, and vulnerability, she finally opens up about her pregnancy and decides to keep her baby. After giving birth, she’s hit with the life-altering news: She is HIV positive.

This story sheds light on the importance of early testing, the impact of stigma, and the strength it takes to face the unknown with courage and grace. by @instakam3

What does it look like when the people most impacted by HIV stigma help shape the research about it?

Kamaria Laffrey (@instakam3) , Co-Executive Director of The SERO Project (@theseroproject) and member of GLAAD’s HIV Stigma Advisory Council, shares why centering advocates using the Meaningful Involvement of People with HIV/AIDS (MIPA) framework was critical to the development of GLAAD’s 2026 State of HIV Stigma Report.

Understanding HIV stigma is not only about collecting data, but is about listening to the people living these realities and ensuring their experiences help shape how we understand and respond to stigma. by @instakam3

There’s a legacy attached to @instakam3 being excited to attend this year. So much to say but grateful I get to bring my good sis @fittheaven to #USCHA.
United. Unbreakable. This year, we celebrate 45 years of the HIV
movement and 30 years of USCHA — the nation’s largest gathering of
HIV leaders, advocates, and community voices.
This year’s theme, ā€œUnited and Unbreakable: The HIV Movement at 45,ā€
honors our history and the communities who built this movement from the
ground up.
Don’t miss the #2026USCHA! It will center whole person health and
equitable access to prevention and care — because this movement has
always been by us and for us. Join us, link in @nmachiv bio. #2026USCHA #WholePersonHealth #unitedandunbreakable by @instakam3

Principled, Black leadership is not just about stepping up—it is also about knowing when to create space for others to lead.

HIV advocate, speaker, and community leader, Kamaria Laffrey, reflects on the importance of challenging complacency, embracing fresh ideas, and trusting the next generation to grow through experience. Her perspective is a reminder that meaningful progress happens when Black leadership is shared and communities are empowered to innovate.

ADAP is insurance for people living with the HIV who can’t afford to pay for their care without support. For the past year, Trump has been attacking ADAP and now 18 states are helping him by cutting who can qualify for assistance.

How did we get here? Why aren’t more people talking about these issues? And importantly, how do we build a nationwide conversation that empowers our communities to speak up and fight back? The HIV Caucus is here to answer these questions.

Join us on Tuesday, July 28th at 6 PM (EST) for a 90 minute webinar that lays out the landscape of what’s happening with ADAPs across the US and gives advocates concrete next steps to demand accountability and transparency.

Moderated by @saint.michaelelizabeth and @gabrielhse

With Kamaria Laffrey (The Sero Project), Janet Kitchen (Positively U) and Jose Abrigo (Lambda Legal).

Con Kamaria Laffrey (The Sero Project), Janet Kitchen (Positively U) y Jose Abrigo (Lambda Legal).
