Route 66 just turned 100, and the celebration at Roy’s Motel & Café in Amboy did not disappoint.

I rolled in around noon and the place was already buzzing—300+ classic cars, hot rods, rat rods, and bikes lined up across the desert. A live band was cranking, pin-up girls were everywhere, and the Mojave wind was doing its thing with 15 mph gusts pushing up to 25.

I stuck it out for five hours waiting for that Pacific sunset to drop behind the mountains. When the light finally hit, I had about 30 minutes to walk fast and shoot whatever moments unfolded.

Gear for the day: the medium format Kowa 6 (which decided to give me some shutter drama) and the always-reliable Leica Q3.

Here’s one frame I’m pretty happy with. Now I’m hoping the rest of that roll delivers.

More to come.

@projecttaco Cars and Tacos weekend - The energy, culture, and music were incredible—and I tried to capture it all through my lens. These shots are straight out of camera from my Olympus E-P7 paired with a 14mm f/2.5 Zuiko lens. I love getting close, moving around, and finding those interesting angles that tell a story.

It’s a new camera for me, so I spent the day experimenting with color profiles—and I think they turned out pretty great. Here are just a few of the moments I captured. Hope you enjoy them! 📸✨
