a few clips from valentine’s day w estelle elkus 💘 after making a tiny doc about my dad + poppa, i wanted my nanna to be next.

mother to 4, grandmother to 9, great grandmother to 6. always elegant, no middle name, has never been on a girl’s trip — the possibility never crossed her mind.

97 when we filmed, 98 now. initially camera shy but i asked her to show me her jewelry drawer and from there we were set. the music’s me playing at my high school piano recital 12 yrs ago, lol, and here’s the chicken scratch v1 plan of sorts just for kicks.

a teaser of baron’s home movie — a tiny doc i made about my dad and poppa. they’ve been working together for 40 years selling men clothing, especially suits.

last summer my poppa was turning 98 and i started feeling like someone should really document the two of them together. so i typed up a shotlist, borrowed @caitlindickson’s sound + stabilizing equipment, and convinced them to let me film them on their 1 day/wk off.

here’s a few scenes from that day, along with my poppa’s review of the whole thing. oh and the music is my cousin @ntelkus playing gershwin bcuz we all grew up playing piano together and he was always the best, haha.

i went to japan for 2 weeks to see friends i love very much and could you believe it, we were so busy we never made it to karaoke. it’s good to save things for the next time. arigatou gozaimasu!!!

1 - teamlab w natalie, exactly the same irl as you see on insta
2 - the national art center, a building as special as the art inside
3 - me & fiona on the subway 🥲
4 - went to heaven at the teshima art museum
5 - a mini shrine at the fushimi inari gates
6 - mt fuji captured on the shinkansen x japanese girlies
7 - a wave made of silk (!!) in a room the side of an auditorium w a soundtrack of the ocean on loop (my kinda art install)
8 - julia + the best tonkatsu in tokyo
9 - the one and only yayoi kusama pumpkin in all her glory
