In the ol’ days, for me Melbourne Cup Week meant one week until Christmas bump-in.

Ken Russell’s restored ‘The Devils’.

Went to see it last night.

Brilliantly blasphemous.

Performances on another level.

Derek Jarman’s sets are sublime.

Of course it’s a masterpiece.

A team of restorers at the top of their game.

And the marketing team at @clockwork_wb are genius.

The film is more politically relevant than ever.

Wish everyone had the guts to see it.

It’s funnier than I remember. by @instawagstaff

‘Freak out in a moonage daydream’ David Bowie.

Mister Moon remains the quintessential emblem of turn-of-the-century popular entertainment. A whimsical, eerie invitation to leave reality behind.

Seen here in ‘Mister Moon’ 1901. It also appeared in ‘Le Voyage dans la Lune’ in 1902.

Even long before it became a theme park gatekeeper as a giant mouth entrance from Coney Island to the shores of Australia, the laughing face was a staple of Victorian music halls, pantomimes and vaudeville.

The Great Illusion,
Art Direction by Hans Dreier, 1926. by @instawagstaff

These striking images show the extraordinary effect HoM has on the light coming in to the structure like a prism.

The best part of touring the show, was bringing it to regional towns outside of our big city appearances.

This was in Bathurst in 2018. It’s a beautiful town. And the reception was thrilling.

This morning as I walked out in to the courtyard, heading to the laundry which is housed in a little brick outhouse, I had a strong wave of ‘déjà vu’ or as I look in to it further, ‘gestalt familiarity’. I thrive on these brain glitches.

Here is an extraordinary image taken by Simon Schluter in ‘1000 Doors’ for The Age as the show toured the country.

Soon, Bobbie and I celebrate 36 years.

Got to get through his birthday first. He’s a Scorpio. Terrifying.

I’m an Aquarian. Aquarians love stating that.

Linda Goodman wrote in ‘Love Signs’ that our compatibility was “fasten your seatbelts” and “despite the friction” Goodman noted “a profound subconscious respect”.

Scorpios secretly study Aquarians ability to tolerate, detach, and breezily dismiss misery before it hardens in to bitterness.

Keep studying Bob.

Robbie took this photo of me in 1991. On negative. And he printed it in the darkroom downstairs. by @instawagstaff

Robbie found this copy of a painting he did back in the mid 90’s.

Kylie wearing Mugler, Mr Squiggle and Zig and Zag.

Later, in 1999, it was made public that Zig had previously been convicted of CA back in 1994.

They were both withdrawn from the Moomba parade.

The painting went missing. Perhaps destroyed. We can’t remember. by @instawagstaff
