This is a myofascial releases for the upper chest and front of the shoulder that I like to do before my lymphatic drainage routine and for my posture

I place the ball into the soft tissue just below my collarbone, near the front of my shoulder, support myself on the block, and slowly let some of my weight settle into it.

It can take a few breaths to feel comfortable here. I like to gently move my arm and explore different angles before leaning further into the ball, finding a spot where I feel tension ease—not only in my shoulder, but also through my traps and neck.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Lung meridian runs from the upper chest down the inner arm. The Lung system is traditionally associated with grief, sadness, breathing and the ability to let go. This upper-chest area is also somewhere we can feel tightness when anxiety creeps up.

Gentle pressure around this area may help ease feelings of constriction and make breathing feel more comfortable.

Sometimes I like to add this release before my lymphatic drainage routine to soften the tension around my chest and shoulders and help me settle into the practice. I then follow with gentle lymphatic massage, which may help reduce facial puffiness. When that puffiness eases, my collarbones and jawline can look a little more defined.

Save this one for the next time your chest and shoulders feel like they’re carrying the whole day, or after a long day of shoulder movement in the gym.

Most women are taught to strengthen their core.
But we’re rarely taught how the rib cage, diaphragm, deep core, pelvis and pelvic floor are supposed to work together.
And when that system becomes tight, restricted or disconnected, your body starts finding other ways to compensate.
This can show up as:
* A tummy that pushes forward or feels bigger as the day goes on
* Ribs that feel wider or flared
* Constant hip, back or upper-body tension It Difficulty actually feeling your deep core
* Leaking or pelvic floor symptoms
*Feeling like your body isn’t responding, no matter how much you exercise
-And this is where women can stay stuck for YEARS.
Because the answer isn’t always to brace harder, do more ab exercises or add more Kegels.
Sometimes we need to go back and restore what’s missing first.
Movement through your ribs and diaphragm.
A pelvic floor that can relax AND respond.
A deep core that can connect naturally with your breath.
And then we strengthen

When I begin working on the abdomen, the effects extend beyond the muscles and intestines.

Abdominal work may also influence:

• The vagus nerve
• Fascial tension
• Lymphatic drainage
• Diaphragm mobility
• Intra-abdominal pressure
• The state of the nervous system

And that is where it becomes especially interesting.

Modern physiology continues to explore the relationship between the intestines, immune system, lymphatic system, and brain.

This is why some people may notice changes after intentional abdominal work, including:

• Easier breathing
• A greater sense of calm
• Less tension
• Improved sleep quality
• Better awareness of their internal state

If you experience symptoms such as:

• Tension in the chest, right rib cage, or hips
• Digestive discomfort
• Bloating
• Brain fog
• Feeling disconnected from your body
• Swelling around the ribs

It may be time to give your body additional support.

My lymphatic drainage method is not focused only on external appearance. I work with the connection between lymphatic flow, fascia, the diaphragm, breathing, and the nervous system to support both your physical and internal well-being.

To book, send me a DM or text 626-491-9476.

Your abdomen is not just where digestion happens—it is one of the body’s busiest biological intersections.

The intestinal lymphatic network plays an important role in fluid balance, immune surveillance, and the absorption and transport of dietary fats. Lymphatic vessels help collect excess fluid from the tissues, filter it through lymph nodes, and return it to the bloodstream.

Unlike the heart, lymphatic circulation does not rely on one central pump. It is supported by several mechanisms, including the natural contractions of lymphatic vessels, skeletal-muscle movement, and the pressure changes created by breathing.

This is why my method goes beyond traditional abdominal massage.

I combine lymphatic techniques with fascia release and assisted stretching to address the body as one connected system. By working through the abdomen, rib cage, diaphragm, spine, and hips, the intention is to improve tissue mobility, create more space for the diaphragm to move, and support the body’s natural fluid-transport mechanisms.

The goal is not simply a more sculpted waistline.

It is to help the body feel less restricted, less heavy, more mobile, and more connected from the inside out.

Your body is not a collection of separate parts—it is a system. That is The Integral Method®.

One of the therapies I choose to invest in for my own body: AMR — Advanced Muscle Reconstruction.

I go to the amazing @kgbodywork at her location in OC, and what makes our connection so special is that we share the same passion for lymphatic health, fascia, movement, and whole-body wellness.

I also deeply believe that collaboration between therapists is powerful. No single modality has to do everything. The body is an interconnected system, and sometimes the best results come when different methods, perspectives, and hands work together toward the same goal.

So, what exactly is AMR?

Advanced Muscle Reconstruction is a fascia-focused, hands-on approach designed to address restrictions within the muscles and connective tissue. By working with these areas, AMR can help support better mobility, posture, range of motion, and overall movement quality while helping reduce muscular tension and discomfort.

What I especially love is how beautifully this philosophy connects with lymphatic work.

Fascia surrounds and connects structures throughout the body, while the lymphatic system relies heavily on movement, muscle contractions, breathing, and changes in tissue pressure to help move lymph. When the body feels restricted, addressing mobility and tissue quality can be an important part of supporting more efficient movement and fluid dynamics.

If you’re in OC, I highly recommend experiencing Karen’s AMR therapy for yourself.

I don’t need roses every evening—but I do need your touch. 🤍

Material things may brighten a moment, but intentional touch can leave an imprint that lasts far beyond it.

Therapeutic touch can help calm the nervous system, lower stress, encourage deeper breathing, support circulation, and stimulate lymphatic movement. A lymphatic massage can also help reduce puffiness and fluid retention while supporting digestion, recovery, and a greater sense of connection to your body.

Flowers may last a week. A monthly lymphatic ritual can help keep you feeling lighter, calmer, and flowing all month long.

Sometimes the most meaningful gift isn’t something you can hold—it’s how you feel after being held. #lymphaticdrainage #selfcare #wellnessjourney #detox #longevite taken in New York City by @integral.lymph

What makes my treatment different?

The Integral Method® combines lymphatic drainage, fascia release and assisted stretching in one personalized, full-body treatment. By incorporating stretching into the lymphatic work, we create more space through the joints, fascia and drainage pathways—helping you feel lighter, more open and almost two inches taller.

I also incorporate gentle acupressure-point work to support physical and emotional release, allowing the treatment to flow beyond the body and help calm the mind and nervous system.

This is more than a lymphatic massage. It is a complete physical and mental reset designed to support fluid movement, digestion, mobility, posture and emotional well-being.

Prebook at least one month before your scheduled appointment and receive 10% off—plus another 10% off your second appointment.

Your bloating may be asking for more space around your ribs—not another restriction.

In this exercise, I place a Pilates ball behind the back of my ribs while gently massaging around the rib cage and practicing slow, deep breathing.

This can help release tension around the ribs and diaphragm, creating more freedom for the diaphragm to move with each breath. Diaphragmatic breathing also supports the natural pressure changes that assist circulation, lymphatic movement, and digestive motility—helping your body move fluid, gas, and waste more efficiently.

When the ribs, diaphragm, and surrounding fascia feel restricted, breathing can become shallow and the abdomen may feel compressed, stagnant, or bloated. Creating mobility in this area may help you feel lighter, more open, and better connected through your entire core.

If you feel bloated and don’t have time for your monthly appointment, try this quick exercise to address some of the tension that may be contributing to the discomfort until I see you for your next session.

Curious about other Pilates-ball exercises that may help reduce bloating?
