I got my son a @sonyalpha ZV-1 a few weeks back, and the first thing we both shot together was an evening up at the Stahl House last weekend.

I am so impressed with his photography, It's honestly crazy how cool his pictures are for an 8-year old! I have always loved photography and he has watched me shoot for years. It's so cool to see what grabs his attention and how he chooses to capture his world.

 All photos edited by me.

Fortunate to spend an evening up at the Stahl House, an iconic midcentury modern home perched above the Hollywood Hills. Nearly 70 years later, the home is still incredible and has stood the test of time in a way few things do.

What I love about the Stahl House is that it isn't particularly large or extravagant. It was an ambitious attempt to create something beautiful, thoughtful, and timeless. A home that pushed the boundaries of what was possible, finding creative solutions to budget constraints through unconventional materials, innovative construction, and intelligent design.

One of my favorite details from the tour was learning that every single sliding glass door, and there are a lot of them, still glides as smoothly as the day it was installed.

There is something really inspiring about that. Thoughtful design, creative solutions to real problems, and the ambition to build something that doesn't just look beautiful, but works beautifully for generations.

We could use a little more of that.

CHICAGO ART MUSEUM WITH ORIGINAL MUSIC in 30 seconds

Three of my favorite things put together: Art, music, and photography. I wrote and recorded this little ambient piece to go over photos I took @artinstitutechi. Scary to share music, more than photography, but I'm so happy with how this came out. This museum was incredible, although I think every piece we saw was art made by someone now dead. Making their pieces just like I'm making this right now, Alive and present. #artinstituteofchicago #Chicago #chicagoart taken in Chicago Art Institute by @intentional.frames

SAN DIEGO ZOO LOOKBOOK

For my kiddos birthday he asked to go to the @sandiegozoo. I struggle a bit with the whole thing, seeing animals in captivity is kind of a bummer. Conversely, I understand that many of them were born in captivity, so releasing them would be a problem. I love pushing my photography and shooting new domains. Here is a day at the zoo...

GORILLAS

My favorite. Their eyes are haunting, I wish I could tap into what they were thinking. I tried to capture their expression, their eyes, bring out all that I love about them.

ORANGUTANS

They always give me philosopher of the Great Apes vibes. Watching them use tools to get food and shield their eyes from the sun reminds you of how similar we truly are.

BONOBOS

We share 98.7% of our DNA with these guys. I got to watch this guy walk to the other side of the enclosure, grab a blanket, throw it over his shoulders, climb down a ladder, carefully lay out his blanket in a shaded corner, and lie down to rest away from the heat. It was surreal to watch and humbling in a strange way.

LIONS, TIGERS, (and next slide) BEARS

I am not an expert by any means, but multiple big cats were just pacing in front of the cage, and it felt anxious and sad. It's hard not to imbue human emotions on to animals, and I understand that can be problematic, but, I also believe in trying to understand is always better than not trying at all.

MAMMALS

When you see it... 😂😂.

MAMMALS Part II

Maybe the most artistic slide, photography wise. It is so fun to try and find a clever way to capture these guys in their unique enclosures. The Hippos freak me out, they are a top 10 most deadly animal, capsizing ships every year.

BIRDS

This was the hardest group to shoot.. Minus the duck. You can tell who has the eyes to survive in the wild looking for them in the trees. Not one of my strong suits, personally. Congratulations if you made it to the end, I hope you enjoyed the photos! taken in San Diego Zoo by @intentional.frames

THRIFTED LOOKBOOK

I've always wanted to shoot a lookbook. If you follow smaller clothing brands, you know the drill. Before every season they release a collection with a full editorial shoot. Spring/Summer '27 lookbooks have been dropping lately, and every year I find myself thinking, "Man, I'd love to do one of those."

My cousin Nick is spending the summer out in Los Angeles pursuing acting, and over the last few months we've been thrifting quite a bit to build him a wardrobe. I had already shot headshots for him a while back, and he asked if we could do another shoot.

We had about 90 minutes between his two plays, so we threw this together. Part of it was to help him build a catalog for acting submissions and honestly maybe modeling, but mostly I wanted to create something that felt like a real seasonal lookbook. Authentic, a little fun, and built around complete outfits instead of individual pieces.

Almost everything here came from @savers_thrift, @salvationarmythriftstoreuswest , or @eBay, with a few pieces from my own closet mixed in to complete the fits.

So here's my first real lookbook. Every slide includes a breakdown of the outfit, where each piece came from, and what it cost.

This took way more time than I expected, but I'm really proud of how it turned out. If anyone actually enjoys the write ups or gets something out of them, let me know. At the very least, I can finally say I made a lookbook.

LOOK 01

JACKET: Vintage Union Made Wool Overcoat | @salvationarmythriftstoreuswest | $11

One of the best thrift that @nick.carmenate pulled. Heavy wool, fully lined, Union Made, and probably 20 to 30 years old if not older. For eleven bucks, this was an instant yes. Nick will be the only guy walking around a Boston winter in this coat.

SHIRT: @samuraijeans Heavyweight T-Shirt | @blueowlworkshop | $150

Yes, it's a $150 white t-shirt 😂. Samurai grows their own cotton in Japan, spins it into heavyweight undyed fabric, and leaves all the natural imperfections intact. It's as artisanal as a t-shirt can get. Then I washed it and didn't even iron it before the shoot.

PANTS: Vintage Pinstripe Wool Dress Pants | @salvationarmythriftstoreuswest | $10

2026 ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SUBMISSIONS

My late grandfather volunteered as a woodworker and exhibitor at the fair for over a decade. I have not submitted anything to the fair other than mountain bike photos, but I decided to submit travel photos this year and dedicate it to him. Hopefully at least one will get selected and I can take my 95 year old grandmother to see the work which will be adorned with a title dedicated to his name. It is hard getting older and going through the chapters where your loved ones die.

We all know nothing lasts forever, but when those chapters arrive at your doorstep it is impacting in a way you don't understand until you go through it. Makes so much stuff seem so frivolous and yet everyone is still so anxious. Often regarding things that leave their memory just as quickly as their anxieties arrive.

1st set - both pictures shot in Costa Rica 🇨🇷
2nd set - top my little guy running in Portugal🇵🇹, bottom in Chicago 🇺🇸
3rd set - Top shot road tripping from Ronda to Cádiz Spain with stomach flu 🇪🇸. Bottom was from a road trip through Luxembourg, driving the little farm towns where my ancestors once resided 🇱🇺 taken in Orange County Fair Grounds by @intentional.frames

Chicago, Los Angeles, Orange County mash-up

I have 9,981 edited images in @lightroom, just for the love of it. I love being creative, making art out of life, and trying to find beauty in this short time we get here. I decided to go a different direction and pick a tune I found in a little thrift shop in Chicago, then scroll through my edited images and pick images that called to me while listening.

Additionally, I can't believe how shit my attention span is, I left every image for no more than about 1 second and I still find myself anxiously waiting for the next image. I want to share more, mainly because what the hell else is there to do with all of this 'content', but I keep struggling to find a methodology that I enjoy. This was a fun way to go about it, we'll see if it sticks.

CHICAGO RIVER TOUR - @shorelinesightseeing

I always get weird about doing super touristy things, I like living like the locals as much as possible. That being said, this tour was an all time photography traveling moment. The light was heavy clouds with sun, I couldn't feel my fingers, but it was one of the most beautiful city experiences I have ever had. I started photographing each bridge with the street name and the cityscape. I thought it was cool to see what the architecture looked like at each street and pick my favorites. Definitely a worthwhile endeavor, two out of two as the locals would say @mooseindahouse_. Pick a favorite, think about traveling or going to Chicago.

Set to a cool Lana Del Ray song I heard earlier that day in a restaurant with my favorite chilaquiles I've ever had.

CHICAGO - DAY 1 - PART 1 - LANDSCAPE PHOTOS

Technically this is day 2 as my memory card died the first day at the Science museum. The weather went from 35* the previous day to 70* and it changes the experience considerably.

The grid layout of Chicago makes the cross streets go on forever which allows for some beautiful photos.

The Bean is massive and actually really fun to take pictures of an warp your perspective.

Millennium Park has some really cool walkways that are stunning and being in open space gives you perspective on the massive buildings that surround you.

The Art Museum is amazing - we spent 3 hours there and I enjoyed every bit of it. The Ancient Egyptian exhibit, the impressionism portion, and the American art part were my top 3. I've really learned how to enjoy art and take my time, instead of rushing from one famous piece to the next. I know what I like and know just enough about art to understand it in a way that is meaningful to me. I loved getting close and looking at the texture of the impression stuff, to see Van Gogh's brush strokes up close creates a human connection to someone long deceased.

From a photo standpoint it's hard to miss, the light is dramatic, the scenes are busy, the architecture is so variable. It's hard I follow amazing photographers that shoot here and comparing my work to theirs can leave me feeling like why try. Then I remember I love the process of photography so much and it's art not sports and to stop competing. Set of photos to a great Sam Cooke song I heard a street performer playing... It was quite beautiful honestly.

24 HOURS IN LOS ANGELES

Spent 24 hours in LA to see @magiccityhippies @regenttheaterla. Honestly, one of the best shows I've been to in a minute. I actually almost cried at one point it was so fulfilling. It was everything I imagine when I write music, and can envision. Everyone in the entire venue completely locked into an insanely cool breakdown and it was a euphoria so intensely I got overwhelmed.

Also, God do I love photography, clothes, and new food. The city just lights up my creativity, it always has something pulling your attention. I absolutely love walking around and just being surrounded by people, but completely isolated, an outsider just watching it, finding beauty in it, trying to make sense of it. I lose myself entirely, I disappear from everything, everyone, obligations, and just become a present, appreciative observer of Earth.

Added it over a little Charles Bradley as the world does in fact seem to be falling apart, phenomenal tune. RIP.

1960s/70s FRENCH VESTE CYCLISTE JACKET

I have really gotten into clothes in the last 5-7 years, I love the idea of patina or getting better with age. My style continues to evolve and currently focuses on classic, timeless looks, that have really unique pieces across decades, but don't look like cosplay.

I just picked up this 1960s French work jacket from @thepuregarb in Ukraine. It is an iteration of the French Chore jacket (I'll post one of those later), designed for heavy work and made to last. I rarely see this iteration which was cut short and utilizes zippers instead of buttons. It was used for a worker traveling often by car or by bike/motorcycle. Unlike the planned obselecense of modern times, this era of clothes was built singularly for function and durability.

The short cut allows it not to bind when sitting, and this one is in a cotton twill instead of the moleskin, which I see more often, but don't prefer. Clothes this old have a beautiful wear and drape that is hard to achieve with anything but time and honest wear.

I put a couple fits together with it, one dressed up, one dressed down. Both paired with jeans handmade by an artisan maker in Rome @wordofmouthjeans, whom I visited this summer and was able to get a pair made for me on the spot, big thanks to Simone, that's a story for another day. Paired with one of my most listened to songs in my life : Blue in Green by Miles Davis, the piano part by the one and only Bill Evans

POST 500 - DAYLIGHT FADING

Snuck into @brianlopes backyard for a quick hike out in Laguna. Not quite ready to share music on here but that is coming by the end of the month. I don't think I'll embarrass myself, which is the initial goal. It's really vulnerable in a different way than photography.

I have really been trying to slow things down and find peace in my life. I continue to become more introverted, finding joy in creating art, and consciously taking care of myself. I know time by myself will be pleasant, whereas social interactions are such a crap shoot these days.

I feel really lost and adrift in terms of my career and my community. No idea where I'm going, or what to do next, no idea where I want to live. It's hard to read the news everyday and carry on like it's all okay. It's hard to work so hard at such an elite level in my position and feel like it's still not enough for people. I still hope to figure it out somehow, individually and collectively, no matter the odds.
