Inter Arts Center is a research infrastructure within
the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at Lund University.

The Nordic-Baltic Sound Residency Network was created to connect residency centres working with sound and music and to exchange knowledge and experiences across borders.

Our centres are different. Some are situated by the sea, others in urban environments. Some focus on technology, others on interdisciplinary practice, artistic research, or local engagement.

But we share a desire to create better conditions for artists working with sound.

The new book 𝙲𝚘𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚂𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍 𝚁𝚎𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚜: 𝙰 𝙽𝚘𝚛𝚍𝚒𝚌-𝙱𝚊𝚕𝚝𝚒𝚌 𝙷𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔 grows out of this exchange.

It gathers experiences, practical knowledge, methods and stories from the network and shares them with artists, residency hosts, organizations, technicians, curators, and others interested in creating spaces for sound and artistic practice.

"Det finns inga ord" (There are no words): Join us this Sunday, 18 October, 15:00–16:15, for a public presentation of excerpts from the multilingual work "Det finns inga ord".

Actors, singers, and musicians performing live interact with pre-recorded voices and music in a hybrid work that moves between the boundaries of opera, sound art, and theatre.

Join us this Thursday at IAC for two Open sessions with composer and sound artist @touchmysound, showcasing three newly developed experimental musical instruments and the artistic ideas behind them.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to try the instruments themselves.

Perini's project explores new approaches to microtonality, instrument design, and collaborative performance through a series of custom-built instruments that challenge conventional ways of making and experiencing sound.

@lorydust and @marta_soggetti, two percussionists based in Copenhagen, join the project as performers, testing the instruments' feasibility and playability and exploring ways of playing them that will lead to the composition of three new pieces.

We’re excited to reveal the next wave of artists joining TEKNO 2026 — Malmö’s new festival exploring the intersection of music, sound and technology.

This time, we’re diving into the world of *electroacoustic and experimental music*, where acoustic instruments meet electronics, immersive soundscapes unfold, intelligent instruments co-create and new

⭐ Halla Steinunn Stefánsdóttir – Icelandic, Malmö-based violinist improvising alongside intelligent, shape-shifting instruments, alongside the Swedish premiere of Veðrahnútur II by Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir.

⭐ Kent Olofsson – Presenting a live multi-speaker sound diffusion of Time Crystals—an album co-composed with Halla Steinunn Stefánsdóttir and recorded by the award-winning ensemble Nordic Affect.

⭐ Jakob Riis – Electroacoustic meeting intertwining live violin with real-time electronic processing, featuring improvised textures and a world premiere.

⭐ dreamjade – net-born electronic music meets Toronto’s alternative scene. expect glitchy synths, bouncing bass, and addictive mixes that make you want to dance all night <333

⭐ Freq. Expedition – The Swedish musicians Ivo Nilsson, Jonny Axelsson, and Kent Olofsson debut an organic, process-driven performance blending notation, improvisation, and spatialized media.

Tuesday 6th of October at SOUND SPACES 2026 — our closing day, three events at Inter Arts Center:

09:30 — Lecture by Giovanni Verrando (IT): Camera Music, a multimedia and transdisciplinary composition. Eight parts for voice, five performers, electronics and stock footage, built around the forms of power human beings exert over their natural and social environment.

11:00 — Lecture by Fabio Machiavelli (IT): Composing the Instrument — electromechanical lutherie and the compositional process. What happens when the instrument becomes material to be composed, not just a starting point.

19:00 — Camera Music by mdi ensemble (IT), closing night. Marcelo Marchetti, voice, with mdi ensemble. Music, text and video by Giovanni Verrando — the piece from the morning lecture, performed live. The last event of Sound Spaces 2026.
