The Nordic-Baltic Sound Residency Network was created to connect residency centres working with sound and music and to exchange knowledge and experiences across borders.

Our centres are different. Some are situated by the sea, others in urban environments. Some focus on technology, others on interdisciplinary practice, artistic research, or local engagement.

But we share a desire to create better conditions for artists working with sound.

The new book 𝙲𝚘𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚂𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍 𝚁𝚎𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚒𝚎𝚜: 𝙰 𝙽𝚘𝚛𝚍𝚒𝚌-𝙱𝚊𝚕𝚝𝚒𝚌 𝙷𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔 grows out of this exchange.

It gathers experiences, practical knowledge, methods and stories from the network and shares them with artists, residency hosts, organizations, technicians, curators, and others interested in creating spaces for sound and artistic practice.

𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙷𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚋𝚘𝚘𝚔 is out now.

CAMERA MUSIC — mdi ensemble (IT)
closing night

Eight pieces for male voice, five musicians, electronics and stock footage clips sourced from commercial online platforms. Music, text and video turn around a single axis — power — at times ironically, at times harshly.

Marcelo Marchetti, voice, with mdi ensemble.
Music, text and video by Giovanni Verrando.

The last event of Sound Spaces 2026. Come and close the festival with us.

📍 Inter Arts Center, Bergsgatan 29

FABIO IS COOKING 👨‍🍳🔊

Composer and instrument builder Fabio Machiavelli just sent us a preview video walking through the software he's building — a tool to analyse the spectrum of a sound and reorchestrate it. A quick look inside the ideas behind his work at Sound Spaces 2026.

Two chances to catch him in person:

His piece *Process I* (world premiere) — performed by Spółdzielnia Muzyczna
Kirsebergs kyrka · Saturday 3 October, 16:00

His lecture, *Composing the Instrument: electromechanical lutherie and the compositional process*
Inter Arts Center · Tuesday 6 October, 11:00

Free entry, both events.

Reciprocal Seeds is at the Gallery Weekend at @interartscenter in Malmö 25-27 September!

Reciprocal Seeds is a work in video, augmented reality and text, developed during the artist’s residency at the MAX IV synchrotron in Lund. It uses screens as portals to parallel worlds and takes the form of a speculative account, somewhere between science fiction and field report.

In the video work, a monolithic capsule floats above and around the synchrotron. It hovers forty metres up in the air, accompanied by a low, deep hum. In the augmented reality work, capsules float in the space around the viewer, with a brighter hum.

The artwork is produced within the Artist in Residence programme at MAX IV, a collaboration between the synchrotron research facility and Lund University’s Cultural Forum for Arts and Sciences, with funding from the Gyllenstiernska Krapperup Foundation
