Third year Interior Design student at @edinburghcollegeofart documenting my studies 🎨
I like chairs and colours 🪑✨

POSTS STORIES REELS

A series of detail sheets for bespoke joinery throughout the retail space, including an “aquarium” cabinet inspired by my research visit to @cameraobscuraedinburgh. An opportunity to bring together @fornasetti’s history and Leith’s maritime tradition and showcasing one of the many possible Fornasetti collections 🌊

We dug deeper into detailing this semester, these being some of the lighter aspects exploring finishes and smaller details and fixings. Having worked in a lot of hospitality spaces in the past where storage and practicality aren’t always prioritised (but desperately needed!), I really enjoyed designing some of these. Hopefully my future career will have potential to design more of these kinds of bespoke interventions! 🛠️ by @interior.antics

a wonderful and super inspiring day down in London last week for the final of the @newh_uk Scholarship Competition finals! my first time taking part in a design competition and a thoroughly enjoyable experience in many ways.

after many years on one side of the hospitality industry it was really fun to explore, design and represent it from a different angle!

really fantastic to meet some industry professionals and receive feedback on the work, and perhaps even more importantly, to connect with peers from around the country and see the amazing work they create. a big thank you to all involved — a really memorable day. by @interior.antics

mood board in progress for something I’m working on over the summer… 🌊🪨🪵🌲 by @interior.antics

That’s a wrap on second year! A selection of portfolio highlights from our movie hotel project 🍿🎥🎞️

Loads of new skills gained this year — really cool to be able to see the difference between this time last year and now. Mostly digital this year, which will be a bit of a given when we enter the professional design world but nevertheless essential to practice and learn. by @interior.antics

WIP 💡 when you haven’t learned rendering yet… add lighting in photoshop! 💡

just a few weeks to go before submission. time to dot the i’s and cross the t’s 🤓 by @interior.antics

An experimental WIP attempt at a hero image, mixing hand drawing, procreate and photoshop to try to capture the guest first impression upon. Definitely a method I’ll keep finessing — I think this works quite well. A bit rusty at (and have limited knowledge of) photoshopping lighting, but we’ll be going over that next week. 🤓💡🛋️

There’s a little movie/television reference in there (not from The Substance), can ya spot it? by @interior.antics

Mood boards mood boards! As we move towards the end of semester, we’ve been developing the public spaces in our hotel designs. Admittedly, floor plans aren’t so exciting here on instagram — so I thought I’d share the juicier, textural bit in lieu of a more exciting hero image or 3D model (watch this space!).

I spent a lovely sunny day in the studio ruminating on some reflections shared by @annacampbelljones & our first year tutor, Ed, yesterday evening during the inaugural Screen Surface Space seminar — lots of lively discussions about the pre-digital approaches to communicating design concepts.

Our first year courses really encouraged us to mix digital and analogue methods, and I can see how easy it could be to forget those important hand drawing skills. That said, we have at our disposal such an array of possibilities thanks to technology. How best to achieve a blend of these? Something I’ll be thinking about plenty over the coming weeks as submission deadlines draw closer.

For now, revelling in the end of a very enjoyable year (which will surely be followed by a significantly more challenging one!). by @interior.antics

[2/2] couldn’t resist a peek through at Edinburgh Castle — which our lovely studio overlooks from the top floor of @edinburghcollegeofart ✨ by @interior.antics
