Introducing our first panellist for FOR US, BY US: Internet Athi

A musician, writer, creative entrepreneur and technologist from Khayelitsha, Cape Town, Internet Athi is redefining what it means to be an independent African creative.

Recently selected as Apple Music’s Up Next South African Artist, his work moves between music, storytelling and technology. Beyond his debut album Polymorphism, he’s building ntambo, a creative technology practice focused on developing tools and systems that support independent artists.

His work raises an important question at the heart of our conversation: How do we move beyond creating the work to building the infrastructure that allows our creative communities to thrive?

Join us as we explore what it means to create on the continent, on our own terms.

FOR US, BY US
Presented by VINTU as part of Design Week South Africa.

UNFILTERED: ARTSCAPE | EPISODE 02

The moment before the curtain unveils. We gather with my band and we do our huddle.

1, 2, 3 … TYPE SHII! 😅❤️‍🔥

And the Cape Town audience gives us the biggest warmth we’ve yet to receive at home!

UNFILTERED: ARTSCAPE | EPISODE 01

Before the audience arrived. Here, the band and I were practising a very detailed intro of the show using Mna. So, this was our sound check with Mna.

I really enjoyed starting the set on this tone for my hometown, Cape Town. For the biggest stage we’ve done yet, Artscape.
