Introducing @internetathi our second and final headline act for the 11th edition of Jazz Alley taking place on the 11th of July 2025.

Cape Town-based artist Internet Athi is carving out a path of creativity and soul. From heartfelt, intimate live performances to sharing the stage with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and with icons like Zoë Modiga, Langa Mavuso and Ami Faku, his journey is rooted in deep respect for the craft.

Beyond the mic, he is also a published writer under the name Athenkosi Cetyana, with work featured at the Franschhoek Literary Festival and in Cover2Cover publications.

He now returns to the Jazz Alley stage for a one-night-only intimate performance, collaborating with the incredible @bonga_kwana
You won’t want to miss it.

Hey guys:)
This is my cover of “Wena” by the talented @internetathi
Although I don’t speak isiZulu, I was moved by the feeling of this track, so I decided to learn how to play it to see what lessons I could take from it musically.

I really enjoyed playing it so much that I decided to do a cover of it.

This is my humble tribute to the track. I did my best to honor the original 🙏

'BEST IN THE WORLD' DEBUT

Lead: @vuyo.v
Photography: @marko_films_jazz
Venue: @196victoriaroad

Recalling the magic of our March debut, the first exposure of Vuyo's biting lyrics to the world they scorn. He gives a captivating performance, melding sombre harmonies and melodies with lyrical themes of injustice and suffering, embellished with sharp, staccato click-sounds. He breaks barriers of form, blending poetry, music, and stylistics in an act of social defiance.

I had the enormous privilege of accompanying Vuyo that evening, bringing life to his poetry through acoustic rhythms. It was my task to animate the messages conveyed in his poems, to take the nebula of competing elements - guitar, poetry, singing - and ground them upon a firm foundation. I had to inspire coalescence through cadence.
