The Body as the First Interface.

I shared partial RCA keynote slides and a brief overview of this research-through-design trajectory on LinkedIn and Substack.

📌 Revision note: The central label has been updated from “Self” to “Consciousness” in the slides. The previous label was an oversight in the diagram. This framework views the sense of self as emerging through embodied, cognitive, emotional, behavioral, social, and environmental processes rather than existing as a fixed core.

This work explores how immersive environments shape perception, emotion, behavior, and agency through embodied and spatial cognition, extended mind, and environmental interaction.

More reflections, writings, and visual frameworks are coming gradually.

How do we design Physical AI that people would actually want to live with?

Join us for an online Salon Talk with Katie Lim, @katielim.id, Senior Industrial Designer at @frog_design, exploring the human-centered design process behind Nome—frog’s domestic robotics concept.

@interplayer.space

Physical AI is moving intelligence off the screen and into the spaces we inhabit. But capability alone does not determine whether an intelligent machine will feel understandable, trustworthy, or welcome in our everyday lives.

Katie will share how form, posture, movement, sound, and everyday rituals shaped Nome’s development, transforming technical capability into a legible and considerate physical presence.

CONVERSATION THEMES

Nome’s Human-Centered Design Process
Context-first robotics
Motion and sound as communication
Trust and domestic belonging
Collaborative robot ecosystems

📍
September 1 · 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET
Online · RSVP via Luma
[LINK IN BIO]

📍Live attendance is limited to 30 participants to support a focused and engaged conversation. Please RSVP only if you plan to attend live. If your plans change, please release your spot so someone on the waitlist can join.

Hosted and moderated by Binna Lee

Most view AI as a shortcut—an efficient tool for “polished” outputs that often flattens the human creative process. But in this rush for perfection, a critical question arises: Are we losing our creative soul to automation?

AI Artist & Digital Designer Jeehyun Kim @an_realphoto and Cognitive Systems Strategist & Experience Architecture Binna Lee @_leebinna have explored this tension. This session is the culmination of a dialogue between a Master approaching AI-generated art through a lens of evolving subversion and a Strategist mapping cognitive structures. Together, they peel back the layers of human creation to find where “joy” lives beneath the shadow of automation.

DATE & TIME
✹ EST (New York): Feb 27th (Fri) | 7 PM
✹ KST (Seoul): Feb 28th (Sat) | 9 AM

✹ ZOOM Registration Link in the Bio ✹

We will explore the questions that elude creators today:

✹ The Cognitive Feedback Loop: What happens to imagination when human intent meets the machine’s “uncontrollable” logic?

✹ The Jitter and the Joy: Navigating the “messy middle” of creation where we lose control to find radical insight.

✹ Recovering Sensation: Moving from digital fluidity back to the intentionality of creative craft to evolve a deeper, more embodied creative joy.

We will unpack this journey through three stages:

✹ Amplification: The initial spark of expanded expression.

✹ Cognitive Rupture: Navigating the “messy middle” where authorship blurs.

✹ Recovering Sensation: Returning to human craftsmanship by using AI as a mirror for our own thoughts.

Please, join this conversation and share your reflections and discoveries with us!

The first Salon Talk comes alive with the support of my connections and community — hosted in D12, Design & Technology, Parsons School of Design.

Salon Talk is a space for curious minds to meet, connect, share perspectives, and explore how identity, technology, and culture are shifting in our time.

Intentions.... the salon becomes a circle of genuine exchange: calm and depth at the start, honesty and vulnerability in the middle, and a sense of closeness, connectedness and care as we close. Participants leave not only with ideas, but with the warmth of having been truly seen.

Panelists

✻ Giovanna Crise @ciofanadrago

✻ Arden Schager @isofluff

✻ Wafi Abd @wafflesthecrispy

✻ Matías Piña Aguilera @matiaspina.art
