Our final sunset on the Big Island.

But if I had to guess, it won’t be our last.

We qualified together. We fought through injuries together. And in the end, we crossed the finish line together. ❤️🌺

It wasn’t the race either of us had dreamed of, but maybe that’s what made it even more meaningful.

The road to Kona tested us in ways we never expected. But we made it to the start, made it through the fight, and crossed that finish line hand in hand.

No perfect performances. No perfect season. Just two people who refused to give up on the dream.

Kona 2026 — a finish line we’ll remember forever. 🤙🏼

Ho’olōkahi - that was the theme of the 2026 Ironman World Championship. It speaks to the spirit of connection and unity.

After what was a challenging season for us both, there was perhaps no better way to celebrate our journey as partners, crossing this finish line together.

This was not the race-day either of us had envisioned, but it was the finish-line that neither of us could have imagined…

Race-day gear spread!

New additions this race - knee sleeves from Bauerfeind, including the GenuTrain Knee Brace & Sports Knee Support for the bike. Then I’ll swap into the GenuTrain S-Hinged Knee Brace for the run on my leg with the torn meniscus.

I have tried a lot of knee braces the past several months, and was so disappointed about the sport usability and ability to run “normally” with them.

Then, I found these units from @bauerfeindusa and so far, I have nothing but extremely positive feedback with them. Tomorrow, they get the full test…

My final thoughts leading into the Ironman World Championship tomorrow morning…

Confidence in completing a task comes from:
•Specific preparation (training)
•Knowledge of the subject
•Drawing on previous experience

With very little of the first, I will be drawing a lot on the second two, plus a good bit of grit and determination…

Dream of being here? Drop a line below and I will keep you in my thoughts as I traverse the course…I know I’ll need lots of motivation out there!!!

Two more sleeps till go time…

Today was about having fun, connecting with old friends, and soaking up a bit of the “KONA” energy.

It’s amazing to be here with such an inspiring group of individuals that make up RŌKA STNDRD Racing, and I’m excited to see each and every one out there on course, plus all the family, friends and RŌKA Multisport staff pumping us up along the way!

Day 3 on the Big Island…

For me, it was a 20-minute AM run/walk, then a 4-hour ride with some sustained climbing.

Fingers crossed, as today was the best my knee has felt since I have been getting back into training. There was a constant, light “discomfort” during the run, but totally manageable if it stays that way. Then the legs came around much stronger on the ride than I expected.

I’m in no delusion of a magical performance, but today was mentally a good boost to start “race week”.
