Come join us on World Vegan Day at @kas_keerweer (Kas Keerveer) in Amsterdam Oud-West to support the @sulalaanimalrescue. The Sulala Animal Rescue (SAR) is the only animal welfare organisation in Gaza that homes strays.

On World Vegan Day, we aim to raise awareness regarding some of the most neglected animals in the world, who are suffering immensely from the ongoing military siege and violence during the genocide.

Since SAR was founded in 2006, Gaza has become increasingly isolated from the rest of the world, enforced by strict air, land and sea blockades. With over 2 million people being confined in the most densely populated area on earth, animals have also been injured and starved under these inhumane restrictions.

Artisan entrepreneurs and hobbyists are invited to sell handicrafts at the souk inside the greenhouse and donate their proceeds (or a significant percentage of them) to SAR. Items consist of zines, ceramics, fabrics, small-batch items and cards. @watermelon_crafting_rebels will bring crochet pins and jewellery and @letsplaywithfood will supply freshly printed 2027 calendars! Soup, sweet and savoury snacks will also be provided. @intifoodakitchen is preparing hand pies with seitan donated by @wheatpraylove.amsterdam, @maria.cooks.vegan will bake amazing cakes, @stichtingkroket’s will contribute homemade fancy cordials and @claudia_in_veg will prepare tasty Italian paninis with roasted pumpkin, sundried tomatoes and basil pesto! 🌱

Nonprofit organisations are welcome to contribute, provided they sell vegan items.

Gabber loved MC Abdul’s voice. I wish I filmed him rocking back-and-forth on my lap each time I played this song. He also liked The Cure and the blues.

After three days without my beloved ginger loaf, the quietness at home has become easier to deal with. I was afraid I'd hear phantom meows and footsteps. I do still expect to see him sleeping in his basket when I enter the living room and to hear him jump on my bed every morning.

Each time I step out, I remind myself that I don’t need to rush to feed him. When I’m out, I remind myself that I don’t need to rush home on time to hang out with Gabber before turning in. I guess that’s the worst part, that there’s no one to come home to. I always used to love this feeling until I adopted Gabber. by @intifoodakitchen

Palestine 36 is a spectacular, deeply human film about the beginning of Palestinian emancipation. Directed by Annemarie Jacir, the film features Hiam Abbass in a leading role, alongside Kamel El Basha and Saleh Bakri. While Yusuf, a journalist, takes a stand against increasing censorship and repression, his best friend Khalid becomes increasingly radicalized and joins the growing resistance. Their story unfolds in 1936, a time when clashing ideals escalated into an armed conflict between Palestinian freedom fighters and brutal British officers.

Make the most of your evening on Monday, September 28 (starting at 6 PM) by first enjoying delicious plant-based dishes prepared by Palestinian chef Intifooda Kitchen. The meal costs €12.50 and consists of various homemade dips and salads featuring bulgur, grilled vegetables, and fresh herbs. Proceeds go to the Palestinian Film Festival Amsterdam (PFFA), which helps preserve Palestinian culture by supporting the film sector of this beleaguered nation.

Hi friends,

We are delighted to announce a collaboration between @intifoodakitchen and @maria.cooks.vegan. After the success of our community dinner in May, we are bringing you a four-course plant-based dinner with an array of dishes born of a fusion between our native culinary traditions. Expect hearty fare feauring colorful vegetables, such as dips and dumplings, with plenty of Arabic spices. More details about the menu will be revealed later.

Attended a vegan community dinner at @kas_keerweer yesterday. It was a west asian eastern european fusion made by @intifoodakitchen and @maria.cooks.vegan. The dishes were:

1. Beet and tahini dip with horseradish. Topped with walnuts, herbs, caraway and nigella seeds
2. Millet tabbouleh, a salad with fresh herbs, lemony dressing and sumac.
3. Malfouf golubtsi: cabbage rolls stuffed with spiced lentils and rice, topped with tomato sauce. Served with dill labneh and stir fried vegetables on the side.
